My Epix 2 has been behaving unusually since the last update. It’s used to track heart rate smoothly but now seems to get stuck at low values for a long time and suddenly jump to what “feels” like an accurate value. See screenshot for one example.

Hello LLang
I am sorry to hear you are seeing an inaccurate HR during the indoor row activities. It is common to see HR become inconsistent during some activity types. This could include, but is not limited…
If you are also experiencing this concern during activities such as running or walking, or outside of activities, this could indicate another issue. For this, I will reach out to you via Private message…
I am sorry to hear that many of your are experiencing concerns with the heart rate being inconsistent. If you are seeing this effect, please first look to the following HR recommendations:
Hello @7017726
I am sorry to hear you are also seeing a similar concern. One thing that can be changed by rebooting the watch, this means you have likely released the handle bars, and it may take a few…
Yes, I am with Garmin, no not new, and as a forum moderator I try to offer assistance where I can. However, this is a community driven forum discussion. This is a great way to source support from other…
At this time our engineers are still investigating reports of HR concerns since the 16.22. But as yet, do not have enough data to provide a specific solution or a time frame.
Thanks Laurie,
appreciate the response again. I recognise an inconsistent reading like this is more often associated with activities like rowing. However, the issue is new. I had never seen it before update…
Garmin-Laurie as I wrote, it happens since the last update. Before that I had zero HR issues. Even I told my friends how accurate it is. But it's very frustrating I see I have to hard reset, reinstall…

Hi there, do you have firmware for fenix 7x?
If so, can you send me version 13.22 and 14.68 to email?
I have almost exactly the same problem.
I've had the exact same issue on 2 recent runs - the only runs since I updated to 16.22. First a daylight trail run, and second a dark evening night run. Heart rate jumps by 40bpm or so after an initial period.
I've never had any heart rate monitoring issues before update (and have always been quite impressed with its performance). Wearing the watch the same as always. It seems a bit coincidence if it's not caused by most recent update.
Charts below. Please fix!
Interesting graphs. I've had this problem too and found I can 'fix' it by rebooting the watch when I notice HR lagging early in the workout. But it may be a case, as you indicate, that HR would 'catch up' aftwer awhile. I'll see next time. Either way, though, it's an issue that Garmin needs to first acknowledge, then address.
Having the same problem. Please fix it, els I have to return the watch because its useless.

I am also having the same problem with my Epix Gen 2. The heart rate is accurate sometimes, then it just drops to around 100bpm and will stay there for a while, and then sometimes jump back up again sporadically. It used to work quite well until recently, I am not sure if it was one of the updates that caused the issue.
I would certainly expect much better of a watch that is in this price category, and accurate HR measurements was the main reason that I purchased this watch over others. I will be returning the watch if this is not corrected promptly.
Can you please give some feed back and assurance that this will be corrected soon?
