Watch doesn't always go back to Always on display

I have this issue with my Epix Gen2 that sometimes the screen stays on with the full watch display all the time, and doesn't go back to the more energy saving "Always on" display. The backlight seems to be going down after the timeout period, but the display remains the full one.

I'm not sure if there's a pattern to it, sometimes it works, sometimes I have to force it by either moving the wrist up and down again, or pressing the light button and wait the timeout.

It seems to happen quite a lot when receiving a notification though.

It's been going on for several software version (I'm on 11.28 now).

I tried to play a bit with the wrist/touch options, turning everything off, but no change.

Not sure what else to try short of factory reset... is that a known issue ?

I understand this is less critical than the other way round. If the watchface does not go back to battery saver mode it is draining the battery massively and hence the complaints...

If you touch the display or press a button, the watch face should brighten and then go back into low power mode. We have only observed this behavior with Connect IQ watch faces.

Hi, seems that with 13.22 the IQ watchface not returning to AOD mode is currently solved. Now (at least the ones I have installed) connect IQ watchfaces are going back do the dimmed mode automatically after having received a message without the need of further interaction (like touching the screen or moving the arm).

Now, when the screen timeout is set to 15-seconds, all CIQ watch faces (regardless of developer) are going to sleep at 10 seconds after wake. So the watch faces sleep before the screen sleeps.

Then, even more frustrating, it's no longer possible to tap the screen during this time to extend the wake state. Even after the watch face goes into low-power mode, tapping the screen stops responding. The only way to wake the screen is to use the "light" button.

But if pressing the "light" button in the 5 seconds between watch face sleep and screen sleep, it just forces the screen asleep. So it requires a double touch to wake the watch face again. But this is tied to activating the flashlight, so that's very annoying.

I use data-rich watch faces, and sometimes I need more than 15 seconds to read and understand all the data. I used to rely on tapping the screen lightly to keep it awake, but now it goes to sleep no matter what, and that's frustrating.
