quatix 7 Sapphire vs. Epix 2

Hi,

Thinking about buying Epix 2, but have just seen the newly released Quatix 7. It seems that the Sapphire Edition is basically the same as Epix 2, with the different aesthetics, and couple of extra features not available on Epix. I don't need the extra features (ehm, tides chart on the built-in watch face sounds good, actually), but I like the aesthetics.

The question is: does Epix 2 have something Quatix 7 doesn't have? Would I loose anything by choosing the Quatix over Epix, for the same price?

    Good to know. I thought I could not install Garmin stock watch faces designed for other watches, but I actually tried only once: when I had the Fenix 6 Sapphire I wanted to install the Fenix 7 Sapphire stock watch face but it was unavailable through the Garmin Connect IQ.

    Is it Garmin official or a replica (if so, it seems very accurate)? You know, asking pondering about code integration/optimizations and related battery consumptions as that is a recurring topic between using Garmin and non-Garmin watchfaces.

    Yes it's Garmin official watch face, i always use the official watch faces so i wouldn't know.

    On Quatix you have an option to assign "Regata Timer" to the Hot Keys. I don't see this option on Epix.

    On Quatix, there are 2 extra preinstalled watch faces. Both have something that I assume is a current wind direction/speed available as a data field (i.e. "E 6 kt" or "SW 7 mph" ) . I don't see this data option available on other watch faces. Also, just wondering where it's getting that data from...

    One more preinstalled watch face gives a different Hint when you apply it- on Quatix it tells "for countdown start Sail Race Activity" and on Epix to "select Timer from Clock menu".

    I currently have both- Quatix 7 Saphire and Epix 2 with me. I got Quatix 7 assuming that it has Lakevu and Bluechart maps preloaded- all marketing pictures show it with marine charts. Turns out this is not the case and you have to purchase them separate... My local sports store had a descent deal on Epix, so I might return Quatix and keep Epix.

    I don't have an access to Garmin chartplotter or autopilot. I'm planning to use GNT-10 transceiver to get boat data to my watch. From what I understand, it uses ANT+ to push NMEA-2000 data.

    But, from what I see, all marine applications could be installed on both- Quatix and Epix. I got  "Sail Race", "Sail Expedition", "Sail", "Anchor", "Boat", "MDF Remote", "Boat Data", "GNT 10", "Autopilot", FUSION-Link" installed on Epix 2. BTW- I'm using latest Alpha Firmware v11.17.

    Are you happy with the screen visibility under the sun? 
    Can it be set to always on (lit) during activity? 

    I know it's personal taste, but which one you think looks better?

    Has anyone tested if you can add the missing cycling profiles to the Quatix 7?   According to the website it seems to be missing things like "Road Biking" and "Gravel Biking".    Has anyone managed to load those onto the Quatix after the fact, either with the default firmware, or by loading the Epix firmware?
