Pool swim distance tracking issue

I just got the new Epix Gen 2 watch yesterday and went for a pool swim this morning. I loaded my workout but noticed that none of the intervals had distance detected. Then I stopped that activity and started a new one and same issue. Both activities have correct interval times and HR but no distance, nor stroke detection (it’s enabled for the activity).

I had correctly set pool size before the activity and watch was updated to 7.20 software version.

    Same from me as well today (I'm on fw 7.35 since yesterday). After starting my workout, the watch stopped recording lanes/distance after 150m. I stopped the workout, rebooted the watch and started a new workout, but unfortunately the watch stopped recording lanes/distance after 25m.

    stopping to record data after working correctly for a few lanes is new and more of an issue. Up to now if it started out working correctly it remained working for the rest of the swim. with what you're describing I would need to keep checking if the watch is still functioning at every lap or risk listing listing laps. that a pain

    i have the same issue.. it goes away when I reboot the watch

    it seems to happen to me every time I change pool length and then swim.. no distance recording

    A quick update. First I never change pool length and still get this failure, more recently. Today I tried a full reset (hold light button until display goes black then let go) 5 minutes before I got to the pool. Unfortunately I swam four laps, looked at the watch and it showed 0 laps. I discarded the activity and performed the same reset as above at the pool for the second time. Swam one lap and checked and this time it worked. Point is for me is that one reset wasn't enough. Hope this helps Garmin and hope to see a fix for this soon, this is becoming a pain in the a**

    I had the same problem today.. required TWO complet resets to get it to work

    Same issue here with Epix2. 4+years without any issue with F5X. Morning swim ok, this evening swim not counting distance. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. Power off/on does not solve the issue. Will try hard reboot…. Very disappointed and unexpected from Garmin

    Today's swim resulted in no data... My swim friend with a fenix 6 had exactly the same problem. This was the first time garmin missed recording our swim. Something is not right, but it's good to know Garmin is working on it...

    Updated May 11th, 2022:

    This issue is resolved after updating to software version 8.18.

    Have this on 7.35, I (soft) rebooted the watch but the issue persisted. As a point to note: the wrist gesture stopped working after I complete the swim, until the next reboot. Could be blocked on gyro/accelerometer sensor.
