Others with Audio dropouts using Beats Fit Pro’s and Epix 2?

Wearing my Epix 2 sapphire on the left hand.  Notice frequent audio dropouts over BT using my Beats Fit Pro’s during a run activity.  Switching to Mono makes no difference (although unsure if that should affect marginal BT performance).

Swapped over to my older Powerbeats BT headphones (this model is also BT, but each earpiece is wired to the other rather than being independent) and no issues at all.

Wondering if anyone else observing this.

Have considered swapping the Epix to the Right hand, but would rather avoid that hassle in all honesty.

  • As told in an earlier post I got my replacement Epix 2 the other day after massive Bluetooth problems with the first one. I went for a 25-minute walk with the second watch (on FW 8.21 paired with my Beats Fit Pro) and I experienced several hiccups in the music but no disconnects. So a somewhat better experience than the first one.

Today I took the new watch for a 75-minute run paired with my Jabra Elite Active 7 and – drumroll! – not a single hiccup, glitch or disconnect. Before the run, I listened to music through the watch on both a 25-minute and a 20-minute bike ride where the experience was exactly the same.

So – if this behavior continues – the solution in my case was a replacement watch and the Jabra headset as this setup has been an absolute joy to use throughout the day.

  • Update: Replacement device seems to not have the previous problem.

I have received a replacement device from Garmin. The new device pairs with my headphones (Galaxy Buds Pro) and I have completed multiple workouts (indoors, gym+treadmill, outdoors with sensors in high accuracy and mapping running) with little issue. Indoor workouts have been 60-120 minutes in length. Outdoor runs have been 12-30 minutes. Data collection is set to every second. Music source is Amazon Music (presumed high bitrate). There is still an occasional skip/hesitation and sometimes fade-in/fade-out with my arm at my side but weirdly enough that only happens indoors with no activity running.

    • BT performance was fine right out of the box (didn't verify the software version) and after the 8.21 update.
    • Using Amazon Music
    • Sensors and GPS all on highest settings
    • Watch has been used between 20 and 100% charge with headphones
    • Headphone commands (volume, play, pause, skip forward, skip back) all seem to work

  • My experience are the exact same – everything now works flawlessly with the new unit! Slight smile

  • Where I should ask for replace Epix 2 ?

  • Update: Replacement device seems to not have the previous problem.

Same.  Still have the same old issues.   Scosche Rythm+ keeps randomly disconnecting and so do airpods.  Chris said that they are taking my older watch they received back to the engineers to continue researching the problem.

Try putting your hands behind your back, touching both hands together.  Often used when stretching or preserving energy.  Boy do the cutouts go wild then.  LOL.

I think the Bluetooth chip needs a bit of overclocking Slight smile

  • Since getting my replacement Epix 2, the watch can be in a different room from my Airpods Pros and it'll still keep playing music from the watch without dropping.

Can i have your bluetooth chip.  I promise I'll seal the watch up well  Slight smile

  • I went from the Beats Fit Pro & AirPod Gen 3 skipping/interrupting every couple mins to now just switching headphones to the Jabra Elite Active 7, I get great results where the audio is solid with a glitch maybe once per run. I didn’t change anything on my watch.
    I use:

    • Epix2, 8.21 FW.
    • Using Spotify Music
    • Sensors and GPS all on highest settings
    • Watch has been used between 20 and 100% charge with headphones
    • completed 6 runs successfully, 1hr40m being my longest (2 glitches during run)
    • Headphone commands (volume, play, pause, skip forward, skip back) all work
    • i run with my phone but I unpaired the Jabras from my iPhone before the run.
