Turn off voice prompts from phone when navigating

Hi,

For some reason (after update 17.1) my wife’s phone has started to voice audio prompts of POI’s on a course we’re following.

It’s an iPhone and had Garmin Connect closed at the time.
I’ve check a few settings and they’re the same as mine though mine didn’t start talking to me on our run!!

Any idea where this option would be? Thanks.

  • None of the 'workarounds' suggested are acceptable.
    - Disabling "Turn Prompts", which also disables the beep and vibrate, making the navigation function usess.
    - Disabling Bluetooth is not a fix as I rely on bluetooth for other sensors and safety tracking software for remote

Currently these are the only methods for disabling the audio prompts during navigation. This is by design. However, some were still experiencing audio prompts even once turn prompts were disabled. This is something our engineers are working to resolve with a future update. This fix would allow audio prompts to be stopped once navigation turn prompts are disabled.

  • Well your great "by design" is what will make us choose Coros or Suunto next time.

What are audio prompts? Are that the voices? Or will that stop the Beep-signals also? We want to keep the Beep-signals!

And when the navigation turn prompts are disabled does that stop that the bloating of the heartrate etc.?

Why not give us the option to choose NO VOICES ?

  • What is wrong with you people? Modifying the code to give the user the option to have or not the voice prompt should be something extremely simple. I can't believe we are still talking about it!

Navigation audio prompts would give voice navigation prompts from the phone or paired headset. Having turn prompts disabled will disable any beeps or vibration as well. So currently, you will receive both, or neither, depending on the settings.

Yeah, and that's bad user experience. Make that two separate settings.

  • I sold my Enduro 2 because of the audio prompts and bought a Suunto Race S. I´m happy with this decission!

  •   Garmin is losing customers because of this stupid decision to force audio navigation prompts.  Yet Garmin is still convinced this is something that doesn't need to be addressed - incredible.

  • Why has a feature been added by design, that makes the experience displeasurable?

Run down a windy route with turn prompts on and you barely hear your music for all the notifications!

  • I reccomend writing an email to garmin support: [email protected] and expressing your feelings about this. I wrote them and received this:

"the engineers on the case have not looked into changing this (implementation of a change) as of yet. Unfortunately, as Product Support we are only able to give you what we see on our end and we cannot push an engineer to make this a change for all watches, wish I could.

I am sorry about any inconvenience on this and wish I had more to give. "

I don't think Garmin is truly aware of how poor this user experience is and how many people are irritated and are considering or have already moved platforms.  Not a great look for Garmin.
