Turn off voice prompts from phone when navigating

Hi,

For some reason (after update 17.1) my wife’s phone has started to voice audio prompts of POI’s on a course we’re following.

It’s an iPhone and had Garmin Connect closed at the time.
I’ve check a few settings and they’re the same as mine though mine didn’t start talking to me on our run!!

Any idea where this option would be? Thanks.

Our engineers are aware of a report of audio prompts for navigation to sound, when audio prompts are disabled. They are researching a solution to this. In the mean time, the work around…

You can control Audio prompts through the app or the watch itself.

In the watch:
1. Hold the Menu button
2. Select Audio Prompts
3. Disable the prompts here as desired.
In the Connect app:

This turns off ALL prompts.

I have same issue.

Up until now (Enduro 2 and Fenix 6) I have had prompts set so that watch 'chirps' to alert of upcoming navigation prompt which are then visually displayed…

Only that doesn't work. Garmin-Laurie has already confirmed it's a bug, now we're waiting for a fix. It's also annoying as fck, if I may add.

So it worked for the pace alerts but yeah it hasn’t worked for the navigation. And yeah it’s really annoying

I have a workaround, though in my case it requires installing a third-party app: Sound Assistant on Android (Samsung). The app allows the user to set volume for individual apps. Select "Connect" and set the volume to zero.

Users of other phone brands should find something in their app stores, search for "Volume Control" or similar. Watch out for scams.

I have all audio prompts disabled and yet the voice is still there during navigation

snap. Even if I turn all audio and prompts off my phone keep talking to me. The only thing I can do is turn the volume down. DND settings doesn't stop it. The issue with this is your phone is silent for everything and it's still using phone battery life. So furstrating!

The only workaround I've found is turn down media in your PHONE volume settings. Not ideal but at least it saves muting entire phone

Any news on this bug been resolved. It is utterly driving me up the wall, completely ruining runs when I need navigation. Not good enough service Garmin...... please advise asap, A number of races coming up for which this watch was bought for....

same issue with the epix gen 2. hope there is a way to fix this bug. btw. voice is F in EN, setting is F in NL so there is definitely something wrong because the setting is different then the output even when turned off

A few days ago there was an update pushed for my watch, and to my surprise the issue is still there. Better, when I asked first-line support about this, I have been told it's a FEATURE, not a bug. It's the intended behaviour.

Can you confirm?
