After updating the firmware to version 15.20 I have with my Garmin fenix 5x plus similar problems with altimeter as described HERE. Has anyone noticed a similar problem or I am alone?
Yes, I have.
Normally this sort of phenomenon had happened before 15.20, but only after getting out the bathtub. Yesterday I faced it without immersing my Fenix into the water.
I did a manual altitude and barometer recal, and since then no problem.
Well for me 15.20 was supposed to fix altimeter issues I was having in some activities but never during a run. After upgrading I went on a first run and look what happened: connect.garmin.com/.../6799939247
Someone really screwed this up. I don't know where to start, everything is so messed up. I supposedly went from 287 meters to 12 500 meters yet ascent and descent show 53 and 807 meters respectively. And could someone please tell me how the continuous altimeter calibration is supposed to work? Because it's pretty clear that it ain't working. I've had enough of these altimeter issues. Been writing to Garmin for 3 months now but they say it's a software issue. Well they clearly didn't fix it with this update :/
Till 15.20 altimeter was OK. After the upgrade to 15.20 exactly the same problem. I rebooted watches and after that seems no problem (at least I did not noticed).
So, try to reboot.
Yes I confirm !!! after downgrading to 14.00 it's perfect again
seems to be ok but you must to downgrade to 14.00 to solve
In my case reboot solved the problem with the altimeter. With 15.20 works ok now.
Restarting the device was the first thing I did when I found the altimeter problem after upgrading the software to version 15.20. Unfortunately, the problem persists.
I would try the downgrade to14.00, but I don't have an installation file, unfortunately.
Did you experience similar problems to mine during an activity or is it just outside of activity?
