What is your problem? You are willing to accept that your watch, that is perfectly capable of getting the update and using the features won't get them because some big corporate decided so. How is that…
Some of us do run businesses, fairly substantial ones in some cases. And we understand the imperative of driving short-term revenues. But we also understand the balance of driving away repeat customers…
Dear Garmin Team, I totally agree with the below comments: Since I just bought a "Fenix 5 Plus Saphire" end of March 2019 for 800€ I would be really disappointed to not benefit in any way from the new…
Ruggedness?
What's probably going to happen is the increasing moving away from parity, not towards it, of the 9xx series and the Fenix. One is a triathlon watch, the other is an outdoor pursuits watch... The F5x+ is a little heavy for running whereas the 9xx is more sleek.
Everyone's arguing here - but here is pointless - email garmin, tweet them, fb them.
But you've lost nothing so far.
let’s face it, the 945 is now the flagship with the added features
Technically, the MARQ series would be the flagships. The 945 is the cheapo-version of those.
The MARQ - even according to Garmin - is in a different segment. You can't buy a MARQ from a regular Garmin dealer.
You are absolutely right when you say "It's not at all" entitled" to request that features that the device is capable of are made available to it through software updates". The key word being "request". The label "entitled" definitely fits when people expect or demand they get these new features. If it happens great. If it doesn't, nobody has been "cheated", or "punched in the face" by Garmin. Those that feel the latter are deserving of that "entitled" label.
You are right on the money. I bought my F5+ because I wanted the music feature (and to a lesser extent, the maps) - these features were hardware dependent.
If Garmin are adding great new features I don't begrudge them the money every two years, but the F5+ is only 10 months old, and I was hoping they would keep it updated with the latest algorithms at least until the F6 was made available.
It's not entitlement, considering how much the watch costs, how trivial it is to release these features, and the fact that newer more affordable watches now have significantly more, it feels like a punch in the face to those who purchased a 5+. Right now you get less for more money as even the previous fenix 5 got stress tracking as an update, yet this doesn't even have body battery yet.
There must be some concept of value and the manufacturers must be kept in line otherwise the price will continue to rise each year. This is how we now have $1500 smartphones when the first flagships were only around $500 with a similar bill of materials. My income has not tripled in 8 years as a result I won't fuel this useless consumerism. The car analogy is not applicable as usually new hardware is required which is not backward compatible, this is a few lines of code. The current situation is similar to replacing your computer every year to run the latest OS.
The product line is now also fragmented and doesn't make sense if they keep things as is.
Certain people just don't understand this basic concept, according to him we should all be pawns of the corporation expecting nothing, and only being cash cows to milk.
There’s no email on this page and I’d prefer to have the answers in writing to keep a trace of what’s been said.
