What is your problem? You are willing to accept that your watch, that is perfectly capable of getting the update and using the features won't get them because some big corporate decided so. How is that…

Dear Garmin Team, I totally agree with the below comments: Since I just bought a "Fenix 5 Plus Saphire" end of March 2019 for 800€ I would be really disappointed to not benefit in any way from the new…
Wow, just going through the thread and it seems like the discussion has gone quite serious ! Take it easy bros ;)
The way I see it is that whatever the customer expectations may be, AFAIK, Garmin has no legal or commercial obligation AT ALL to port the 945 new features to the 5+ series. As it has already been mentioned. You get a product for the price you pay when buy it, the fact that it's a premium watch doesn't mean you will get new software features to play with.
Now, Garmin might still do it to make their customers happy - or not do it if they think doing so might generate more sales. It all comes down to a simple business case, and most probably it's marketing which will guide the decision. If porting the update comes at a very low cost for them and is not likely to drop sales from future models, it is likely that they will do it. So just ask yourself the question : If fenix 6 comes out in 6months with all the new features, will I consider buying it ? If the answer is yes, then get ready not to see any feature backported :) This is sad but it's just the way business works !

It's not at all "entitled" to request that features that the device is capable of are made available to it through software updates. We're not talking a 5 year old device here, it's a device that Garmin are currently selling and currently promoting as one of it's premium products.
"If they kept on porting features back, no one would ever buy a new model...of anything." - Not true at all. If the device isn't capable, because hardware has moved on, then no-one would complain and we would periodically update. But... many of us would be very reluctant to spend money on future Garmin devices if we think that almost immediately after purchasing it, features that the device is capable of will be released but not made available to that device. So we'll look at other options and other brands and our next purchase won't be a Garmin.
And that is Garmin's long-term balancing act. Do they want to sell me, and others, a new device every 2-3 years because the product keeps evolving up to it's hardware limits before being superseded. Or do they want us to buy one device, once and then lose faith in them continuing to provide the best experience possible on that device.
One of those two choices delivers sustainable, long-term revenue. One delivers a single sale. I know what I choose in my business.
Yes i think the same. Bought mine (F5+ saphire) end of march too.
Voicing your opinion is one thing, we’re on a public forum and that’s to be expected. That’s not what my posts are about if you truly read them and you read in between the sarcasm. The posts I responded to were the people that “EXPECTED” Garmin to give them this, give them that. “I am the customer, I am always right!”, “I paid a lot of money for this product, I deserve to get features in newer models!”
You buy the product as is and if you get new features, great! The 5+ series got the “Incident Detection” recently, wasn’t included before great...but when the Vivoactve came at CES with it, was I banging down Garmin’s door “expecting” it? Absolutely not. Last week, I submitted an idea in to see if they can update the 5+ series with the new multiple Timer option...but am I “expecting” it? No, if I want a product with a features that I don’t have, then I’ll buy it.
I don’t have a problem with people requesting things, hell I started a suggestion thread in the Instinct forum about that. BUT, I do have a MAJOR issue with people displaying “entitlement” and/or playing the “customer is always right” as I despise, despise, despise people like that. I will voice my opinion and I’ll never worry about winning a popularity contest.
