What is your problem? You are willing to accept that your watch, that is perfectly capable of getting the update and using the features won't get them because some big corporate decided so. How is that…
Some of us do run businesses, fairly substantial ones in some cases. And we understand the imperative of driving short-term revenues. But we also understand the balance of driving away repeat customers…
Dear Garmin Team, I totally agree with the below comments: Since I just bought a "Fenix 5 Plus Saphire" end of March 2019 for 800€ I would be really disappointed to not benefit in any way from the new…
The down votes are coming not from what you're saying, but how you are saying it. Talking at people instead of to people in a condescending tone and hurling insults just makes you neither right or wrong.......it just makes you an ass.
Listen, if people need things sugar coated, then don’t participate in online or in person conversations. If people are going to play the “I’m entitled” or “Customer is Right” card, then they better be willing to take heavy criticism. I don’t care about how people perceive me, if you’re wrong, then you’re going to be told that you’re wrong.
hold on, so you and everyone on here that is singing the "Garmin doesn't owe you anything tune" is still running the initial iOS or Android system on their phones that they bought their phones with? Because the only changes I'm talking about are software based, which by all admissions the F5+S has that capability of absorbing.
Matter of fact companies like apple even push new software features to phones with inferior hardware. You guys are way off of base with the 'you bought it as it is' point of view, this is 2019 not 1989, even cars get software updates now. No one in this forum is asking to send their watch in to have all hardware replaced to the newest sensors or GPS chipsets.
They should differentiate on a hardware level.which they did with the new spo2 and hr gen 2 sensors, however that should not artificially block the update of the software featuret the watch is perfectly capable of. I'm not saying that f5+ quality diminished in any way, just that new vo2 calculation and body battery would be very useful for a watch that is mostly marketed towards outdoors and recreation, a lit of people use it for hiking and the new elevation metric in vo2 calculation would be of a benefit to those users.
You don't sound like a Garmin employee or someone with common sense, you just sound like a presumptuous self important fool, I can imagine you hurling other insults disguised as 'telling it how it is'.
People are voicing their opinions, and you are judging them based on that without knowing anything else about them.
What iOS or OS are you running on your phone? I bet it's the latest, does that make you entitled? Android or Apple didn't have to give you any features but I bet with the type of attitude you're conveying here you'd be the first to bash the company that didn't.
Also, just so we're clear, back porting simple SW features isn't going to bankrupt Garmin, or make bad business sense. The main reason behind not porting features usually comes down to licensing associated with those features, not sales of new devices. If that's you're singular argument, I hope you don't run a business of your own.
They have literally run the same SW that's on a 945 on a F5+, you can see the pictures in this thread, I think that settles all discussions of 'different API' etc. It is literally just a SW push for the features that everyone here is requesting (heat acclimation etc.).
you see, what's funny is that if you email them you'll get the usual "we have no clue", or "oh you should suggest that" banter. It's just amusing to me that Garmin employees are extremely active on these forums, go take a look at the 945 button issue in that forum. Even in this forum they'll come out of the woodwork to offer info and advice. However, it seems to me that they are avoiding this thread like the plague, which makes me think that they know they messed up.
The 935 had two very important distinguishing features.
It was 10-15% cheaper and lighter on the wrist.
Having more features across the board and being 15% cheaper is the bit that will trip Garmin up. Who will buy the F5+ (or the F6 if the hardware is essentially the same as the 945) when you could have a more functional watch (even in the "outdoor" area) for less dough?
Dear Garmin Team, I totally agree with the below comments: Since I just bought a "Fenix 5 Plus Saphire" end of March 2019 for 800€ I would be really disappointed to not benefit in any way from the new updates of 945. Because of the so far great user experience I already influenced positively a few friends of mine considering buying a Garmin watch as well. I was very impressed with support of the German Support help team (via Email and on phone). Nevertheless I spent just 800 €. So not benefiting from the new features would leave me very disappointed... therefore looking forward to an positive answer.
