What is your problem? You are willing to accept that your watch, that is perfectly capable of getting the update and using the features won't get them because some big corporate decided so. How is that…
Some of us do run businesses, fairly substantial ones in some cases. And we understand the imperative of driving short-term revenues. But we also understand the balance of driving away repeat customers…
Dear Garmin Team, I totally agree with the below comments: Since I just bought a "Fenix 5 Plus Saphire" end of March 2019 for 800€ I would be really disappointed to not benefit in any way from the new…
I have both, 945 and Fenix 5X Plus, so it is not an economic issue, it's a sort of "respect" towards their customers that have pay a lot for their watches.
Rather than posting here, email Garmin direct . I have. I made a feature suggestion that licensing some of the newer FB metrics to the 5x+ would give it a slight legup from the rest of the series, much as the F5X had maps as the legup from the other.
The more emails they get, pointing out it's the premier watch of the series and some extra features, perhaps a subset, would help distinguish the F5X+ from the rest without unduly overlapping with the 945, would have far more impact on any decision.
Then email them, as I said. But they also will not want to erode sales of either watch. So point out some overlap would help give the x the same increase in the plus series as maps did to the original f5 series.
As you have both, why do you care? You have the features. I have a F5 and a F5x+ but I don't expect to see much overlap. It's the way the cycle is with tech.
This is a user support forum - emailing customer support direct would get it seen better. If any F5x+ owner wants them, then email rather than post here. I could see a subset coming (acclimatization springs to mind as the sensor is in the x, and perhaps some of the new load features) but to be honest those who probably have far more to complain about than us are the Marq Athlete owners!
5+ has the same screen as 945
But not the same GPS, and I think the HR sensor is a generation newer as well. Screen is a minimal part of the system, and I would hazard a guess that with those two hardware changes alone came big internal changes - I know you can see that from a battery life comparison
I doubt the they will continue to sell well Fenix 5/5X Plus line if they don't port new metrics to them, why i would to buy a Fenix 5/5X Plus than? So to my point of view, or they will announce Fenix 6 soon, or Fenix 5+ sales will collapse...
Yes, sensors are different, but new metrics are only sw based, i think an algorithm processes data come from sensors and elaborate it... so i think it doesn't matter what kind of sensors are, they always will return raw HR data and raw GPS data...
