What is your problem? You are willing to accept that your watch, that is perfectly capable of getting the update and using the features won't get them because some big corporate decided so. How is that…
Some of us do run businesses, fairly substantial ones in some cases. And we understand the imperative of driving short-term revenues. But we also understand the balance of driving away repeat customers…
Dear Garmin Team, I totally agree with the below comments: Since I just bought a "Fenix 5 Plus Saphire" end of March 2019 for 800€ I would be really disappointed to not benefit in any way from the new…
The reality is that the Garmin support person admitted he/she had no knowledge of anything! Until someone from the software team explicitly states that there will be no functional updates then there is every chance they will add features.
They've done this numerous times before...why is everyone so keen to think they've completely changed their firmware strategy? Some really strange behaviour going on.
To all of the complainers - you were happy enough with the watch's feature set when you first laid down your money, so why not now?
There appears to be a number of members here who are more interested in having the latest tech than they are in owning a product that satisfies some practical need. For those folks, perhaps take a moment to reflect on what is driving you to continually consume. Consider what features you required when you first purchased your watch, and ask yourself if that watch is still satisfying those requirements.
Finally, you won't be getting the features of the 945, that's a fact. Software isn't free to write and First Beat features aren't free to licence. New sales pay for the development of features, and Garmin sell new devices by differentiating on the new models feature set from the old.
Dear fellow Garmin owner Steinaro,
Actually no, I’m not that easily convinced at all. I think Garmin is making a huge long term mistake by not doing more to keep the already existing customers happy, not to speak about the disservice it does to the environment by not extending their product’s lifespan when posible. Yes, it seems more to be about short term revenue rather then a big picture. Thus I wanted to share the only official respond I’ve got so far. The reason why I excluded the name, as it seems to bug you, is because it was answered by a minion at Garmin and I see no point in divulging his or hers name as it is of no importance. I wrote to Garmin for my own sake but shared the reply to spread some light over this issue here in this particular topic. If it bothers you that I chose a nickname with far more imagination than yours, I can but apologize for my insubordination. I wish you many happy days and hours here online, finding and commenting on those small insignificant details that seem to aggravate you. And while you’re speaking about Jesus, I think he said it best when he said “Goest and phketh thyself”. I can’t but agree.
The_Amazing_TManI totally agree with you regarding the missed big picture... Hope Garmin will realize.
They've already written the software - it was tested on the 5+ - the evidence is in this thread!
Sure there is a license cost, but I would guess it is would make a tiny dent in their profits, given that the 5+ hasn't sold in the numbers as the F5 (due to only being available for 9 months) and they do so much business with FirstBeat they are bound to get a good deal.
If it puts the topic to bed for you - stop posting.
It doesn't put the topic to bed for some of us, and we'll continue to post.
I’ll take your suggestion under advisement, thanks for posting!
The post was ment for Odie21. lol
Why are you defending Garmin? Do you work for them? Really weird someone without some bias from Garmin defending them. I think you should stop posting here with this... You're really a customer who don't want new features? A customer who is happy with what he got when he bought the thing. You don't want new features or fixes? Weird...

Bring it in, your cover has been blown Joel. Or should I say Special Forum Agent 9271? Year's ago, Joel was sent to a hidden complex in the Swiss Alps by The Company. From that day forward his identity was erased and he was known only as SFA 9271. While there, he was put through extensive training on how to post on threads behind the guise of common sense and logic on behalf of The Company. But you steinaro, were not fooled. You possess the uncanny ability to see through this ruse and you have exposed him for what he really is. Congratulations steinaro on a job well done!
