New R10 is Not Reading at All (New System Software Available - See Update)

I just received my R10 and it will not register any shots.  I used Garmin Express to make sure it was updated. I deleted the Garmin app on my IOS device and reinstalled it.  My setup is just as it is suppose to be according to the instructions.  It still will not register a shot. 

I installed the E6 software and tried a practice session there.  It connects and says “ready”.  Once I hit it says “calculating”.  It then says “Error! Check if device is connected”. Then it connects again and says “Ready”. 

I have contacted support and they are looking into it.  

Does anyone have a similar issue or a suggestion?

  • That means it is tracking your club. If you have a lot of waggle and hit rather quickly after moving your club it may not track. This was an early issue with the R10. I know change in your routine is a big deal. We had some friends over yesterday and there was one person who did have a few no reads everyone else read every time. It think it had to do with his pre shot movement. 

  • Basically same issue, light struggles to solid green (don’t get the blinking green, sometimes goes white), tried all types of placements with various heights, does not register.  Very disappointed as this was Christmas gift to daughter’s family.  Apparent the latest shipment of Approach R10s are defective.

  • I assume you have updated to 3.9 firmware. How about other players do they have the same issue? 

    I just tried E6 tonight the R10 has been working great. Try the update if that doesn't work call Garmin and see if you can swap it out for another one. 

  • I have been using mine….updated to 3.9.  It seems to be working great.  

  • Doubtful, what’s your serial number start with? 

  • SW 3.90 didn't solve my problem (BT connection drops for a short while (less than a second) after hitting a ball and thus it gives no data to the apps (Garmin Golf or E6)). Serial number starts with 6PP0113.

  • Actually this SW3.90 solved all the connection and not reading issues for me ONCE I got the sw update done completely. For some reason Garmin Express was updating R10 earlier, but it didn't complete (It said that it was ok, but didn't take many seconds). After this Garmin Express said that SW3.90 is installed and you are up to date + same with Garmin Golf app's diagnostics, but Garmin Connect indicated that you have 3.80 and please update. 

    Once connected to my mac + Garmin Express (shown as a removable media) I deleted "Garmin" folder from R10 and rebooted it. After that it prompted the SW update and it went through successfully. Before this deletion the SW update process didn't trigger.

    Tested R10 yesterday and no shots were missed Smiley

  • Same here... Very frustrating. Need to report it still to Garmin.

  • So seems the latest update potentially solved it. Still have to try it out.

  • Same issues here… for a $1000 unit and lengthy wait times mine took 4months to arrive  you would expect these issues and products  to have all been quality tested in length before launching the product. Absolutely frustrating.
