New R10 is Not Reading at All (New System Software Available - See Update)

I just received my R10 and it will not register any shots.  I used Garmin Express to make sure it was updated. I deleted the Garmin app on my IOS device and reinstalled it.  My setup is just as it is suppose to be according to the instructions.  It still will not register a shot.

I installed the E6 software and tried a practice session there.  It connects and says “ready”.  Once I hit it says “calculating”.  It then says “Error! Check if device is connected”. Then it connects again and says “Ready”.

I have contacted support and they are looking into it.

Does anyone have a similar issue or a suggestion?

Thanks

  • Working flawlessly now, thanks Garmin!

  • Working flawlessly now, thanks Garmin!

  • Mine does the same.  Registered 15 out of 20.  Had the same LED pattern….long red followed by quick green flash.  Didn’t seem right.

  • It has been picking everything up for me if you waggle let the club settle in for a bit behind the ball it will pick it up. You can also play around with it watch it change from red to green before hitting. I didn't have to change my routine but I can see it trying to track while I move my club around. I could see it having issues if your normal routine is moving of the club and then hitting the ball quickly after that.

  • 2nd that!

How accurate do you think your distance is?

    1. I know I've had some frustrating posts on here and conversations on Garmin support but I do want to thank Cody at Garmin Golf for backing up his words that the fix would come out within days. Took it to the dome after updating and read 43/45 shots. Only issue I noticed is the driver was still showing large deviations (50+ yds left or right) and visually was not seeing that. I'll have to mess with it further and see if that still happens or if I need to setup driver alignment better because of the tee height? Anyways thought I'd share my first session dispersion summary with you guys...enjoy your r10 now with the fix!
  • I haven’t got a chance to practice or play a around since the new update just went out there to hit a couple shots and see if it was working correctly but before the new update when I was doing the slow back swings it was within a few yards of what I’d expect. If you’re using E6 and playing a round you can also select whether or not you use your local altitude or the course altitude which can have a small or large impact on yardages. How about you? Also, I’ve been waggling lol and it didn’t cause any issue…

  • Updated this morning to 3.9 after seeing posts on here.

Setup in back yard with net and mat.... Didn't miss a shot. Played a few holes of my home course without issue, even picked up a big miss with the 3 wood.

    Impressed now... Well done Garmin.

  • Same for me. Update fixed the problem with it not registering. Picked up about 35 of 36 shots, shot shape looked good but distance was way off! I usually total my 5 iron 195-205 yds on a smooth swing and was flushing it with about everything I had consistently for 135-145 total. I changed clubs and the distance seemed to stay almost the same regardless. It did however read the miss hits and half swings at numbers that felt were accurate.    Idk.  Frustrating

  • Two of just played 18 holes with it next to my buddies Skytrak, never missed a shot and the specs were spot on, after moving the mat back to 10’ from screen longer shots were now accurate. And the R10 was exactly 7’ from the ball. It actually registered more accurately then the Skytrak, when I hit it open it went open on the Garmin but still showed a draw to the left on the Skytrak. So glad it’s working now!
