New R10 is Not Reading at All (New System Software Available - See Update)

I just received my R10 and it will not register any shots.  I used Garmin Express to make sure it was updated. I deleted the Garmin app on my IOS device and reinstalled it.  My setup is just as it is suppose to be according to the instructions.  It still will not register a shot.

I installed the E6 software and tried a practice session there.  It connects and says “ready”.  Once I hit it says “calculating”.  It then says “Error! Check if device is connected”. Then it connects again and says “Ready”.

I have contacted support and they are looking into it.

Does anyone have a similar issue or a suggestion?

Thanks

  • Wow you have some patience!

Never got mine to work but that is way below acceptable,  I would be thinking it doesn't work that great if it only missed 8 out of 125. I put mine back in the box after it not registering a handful of shots. I am giving them until the end of the week to have a fix. If it doesn't register over 98% of the shots I probably still won't keep it.

Thanks for reporting in, I hope they do get it straightened out.

  • This may help some people.

Like everyone else here, I received my R10 a week before Christmas and have been having the same issue as reported here.

Doing some testing of different App settings, I have it working, so just posting here incase others can do the same while waiting for the fix from Garmin.

I have an iPhone 11 with the latest iOS, and the R10 is updated to the latest version.

On my iPhone, I have background App refresh turned off for the Garmin Golf App.

When I want to use the R10, I leave the App closed on my iPhone, set up the R10 at the tee box and turn it on and wait until I see the Green LED flashing.

Then open the App on my iPhone, check that it has connected to the R10. Then open the range Sim and start hitting.

This process has been working for me so far.

  • What's your serial number?

  • Tell us about what your leds are doing when it actually reads a swing?

  • I’d also like to know your serial number.

  • The serial number of my unit is in the 6PP range

  • The LED flashes green when ready for a shot and goes solid green for a few seconds after a shot, I assume as it communicates with the App, then starts flashing green again.

  • I'm in Aus and had my net set up so tried this with an ipad pro.

No joy unless the take away is ridiculously slow.

Would not work with driver at all.

Still it is better than with a Galaxy S21, that would not record anything.

    Thanks for the post though...

  • Like some of the other posters, I too have had some success getting it to work (indoors) by taking really slow backswings but on faster downswings the R10 will pickup the club before I’ve made contact and start calculating before it goes through the same cycle the OP described until is “ready” again. I have a fast downswing but noticed the slower my downswing is the higher the odds of it tracking. Not reading chips for sh!t unless you do almost a full swing. When it does track it’s pretty accurate and fun so I can’t wait for this to be resolved. I have the 6PN using an iPad to run the app. Seems like a Bluetooth connectivity and/or programming issue as when I first get everything setup it’s connecting and disconnecting from Bluetooth, eventually it connects but feel like I’ve had a different experience each time before I got it “working”.

  • Anyone else just refreshing this thread every 10 minutes waiting for fix Joy
