Support email doesn’t include Chinese username

Hi,

Users with Chinese characters for username are not included in email notice from ConnectIQ.

For example:

The Connect IQ user null nullhas sent you the following request regarding your app”

Who is null null and how do I know how to address them?

Please fix character set or other issues that cause this.

Thanks,

  • Or, at least, one for Garmin to point me / the user in the right direction for.

There is nothing different that I could have done, and pretty sure the user has not consciously done anything strange either.

Garmin needs to step up to the base here.

  • Not even sure what I would be asking them to check, so checking it in google.translated Chinese might not be the best!

Pretty sure Garmin will have a user name for them on file somewhere, and the fact that it is coming across as null null makes me think something went wrong in translation.

My guess was character set problems, server-side, but if it's not that, I still think this is one for Garmin to resolve rather than the user.

  • This must not be common, as I've never seen it, meaning it could go back to how the user is registered.  Maybe reply and ask the user to check their registration as well as answering the question?

I get contact developer messages in Chinese quite often.

  • As ever, Jim, 100% accurate but not actually what I’m asking!

Of course I know how to reply! _That_ bug was fixed.

I don’t know who I am replying _to_!

    It is the difference between:

”Hi Jim, Thanks for your email...”

    And:

    ”Dear [email protected] ...”
