Settings were reset when updating the watchface

A few users complained to me that the watchface settings will be reset after updating. A few were upset and angry. I can reproduce it on my FR645, but not FR255. What could be the reason for that?

This has been raised in the Discussion, but I'd like to know the exact reason, and maybe a possible workaround, so I can explain it to my users.

  • Most of the linked threads here are pretty old some probably aren't relevant to what you're seeing. The first thread has some good feedback that I generally agree with, but we can still take a look and see if this is reproducible. Since the 645 is relatively old, it may be due to some firmware limitation, but I'm just shooting from the hip.

  • I am a fenix 6X user and am experiencing this issue with one of the OP's watchfaces, Teko. It is distracting from what is otherwise a very attractive and functional watchface, to the point that I have deleted it pending a resolution if there is one. Meanwhile I am out what I paid for the pro code.
