SDK 8.1.0 - "Kill app for launch the app"

Since upgrading to SDK 8.1.0, I regularly get the following error when I open the CIQ simulator with a glance-enabled device, and click on the glance to open the widget.

Usually, after I restart the simulator once or twice it then works.

Kill app for launch the app
Failed to terminate app: Timeout
Failed to run the app: Timeout

  • We have been attempting to reproduce this problem without any luck. Would you be able to provide a CIQ project where this issue is occurring?

I still see this regularly. One thought: I believe it mainly happens when I'm developing on my notebook in battery mode, where performance is somewhat reduced. If you get the chance, maybe try reproducing it under similar conditions—it might help trigger the issue.

  • I was just working on something and saw the issue again.

It occurred when transitioning from the glance to the widget. I had changed the app settings while still in the glance view, so that might be related. I’ll pay attention next time it happens to see if the same conditions apply.

  • I’m developing two apps, and this issue occurs with both of them, so I don’t believe it’s tied to a specific CIQ project. It only happens occasionally—you may need to work with the projects for a while before it appears. So far, I haven’t been able to determine what exactly triggers it.

    Here are the two projects:

    • evccg – interfaces with evcc

    • ohg – interfaces with openHAB

      • This one normally requires access to a password-protected server, but the glance view and widget also work without it. So in theory, the issue could show up when switching between the two apps, even without full configuration.

Even if this bug is fixed, I hope Garmin leaves this line in the SDK forever
