Garmin Express - Wrong Language

hi mates,

I have many feedback from user telling me that the language of the settings is in Russian,

But only with Garmin Express, everything is fine with Garmin IQ.

Does it happen to someone else?

Did I miss something?

  • That might be the same bug we're talking about and it might be a legitimate thing, if the default language of the app you're looking at is in Chinese and there's no Dutch translation for it.

The bug we're talking about happens even when the default language of the app is English, the system language of the computer is English (language of GE is English), and still the settings is not displayed in English, but in some other random language the app is translated to.

  • I have the exact same issue. Running Garmin Express on a MacBook Air M2 Sonoma Ver 14.6.1.

The overall language in Garmin Express is Dutch. But everything in the settings page of Quatro is Chinese... this is very annoying.

  • Couldn't agree more Disappointed

  • In the meantime I issued a support-ticket at Garmin but they responded by referring to the author(s) of apps and stating that there's nothing they can do about this problem. I honestly have my doubts about this. To my knowledge, the "framework", in this case Garmin Express (GE) should take care about the languages. I read some guidelines on the developers-site, especially about languages and the only demand is that this must be one of the common languages, preferable English. Quite obvious because there is not enough space in an app to include all possible translations. I also contacted the author of my favorite app and he commented that he doesn't know about any problem on the Windows version of GE, unfortunately he doesn't have any information about GE on Mac. My guess is that the Garmin-developers only perform tests and development on systems that are set to English, therefore they do not care about the support of other languages. I must also admit that my experience with Garmin-Support in my country (NL) is very poor. They lack of knowledge about their own products and asking questions that are not relevant to the problem. Through the feedback-requests of Garmin-Support I reported about my bad experience. It seems that they act as some kind of filter in order to prevent the higher level support of stupid questions. At this very moment, they are asking the stupid questions, is it to discourage the use of support?

  • I couldn't spot yet the pattern, maybe you're right, but it actually doesn't matter that much. This is a bug, it's not that hard to reproduce. We just need (actually more then we (a handful of developers) it's all the thousands of users) Garmin to fix it.
