Back missing for menu in widget?

In the App version of my program, I see a back button/icon for menus on my (real) 1030 (using SDK 3.1.9.

In the Widget version of my program, I see an X (not a back button/icon). That doesn't behave the same way either.

I'm pretty sure this didn't happen with older versions.

What's up with that?

    I built the ProgressBar sample and installed it on my edge1030 (fw9.50). When I press the menu button, I'm shown a menu with an X in the lower left corner as you've described, but as far as I can tell, pressing the X behaves like it should (the menu is popped). Can you describe further what you mean when you say "it doesn't behave the same way either"? I built and ran the same app on an edge1000 and it showed the back arrow as expected. It seems that there has been a change to the UI on the edge1030.
