Yes, it is a font issue. I'll try to find geolocation service which provides en characters only.
But there is an ability to hide the city name, the checkbox "Show current city"

is the BT sign red? Try to switch off BT on the phone for a second and then turn back on. Some times the device can't connect with the internet despite established connection with the phone. BT reset usually helps.
