Watchface: Data Lover

A watch face featuring:
  • a readable time font
  • sun events
  • active statistics (heart rate / steps / stairs)
  • YAHOO! weather & forecasts.
  • ....

  • I'll add it to my to do list to check. some initial feedback:
    - 1 is unlikely as I probably don't have sufficient memory left for another font
    - 2 i'll see what I can do, a problem is that the value for m/s need to be slightly larger as you typically need 2 decimals for the value to make sense.
    - 3 normally you should already have other options for the bottom chart on your device. the bottom chart can contain: step history, floor history, hr graph, elevation graph, pressure graph or move circles

    1. Seconds font = large temperature font. Temperature: small font. So more or less a simple exchange.
    2. I have never seen m/s expressed in anything else than integers
    3. I have all these. I am thinking intensity minutes (high/low), calories (rest/active) and so on.

    Thanks again.
  • It's a problem in the vivoactive 3 firmware that causes the gps drift so only people whom have a vivoactive 3 or vivoactive 3 music are affected. I'm hoping that Garmin will release a new firmware version that won't have this gps drift issue.

As a workaround for now you'll have to get a new gps fix (start a run activity, wait for gps acquired (gps green), exit the app)

I have a vivoactive 3 and am experiencing this drift where it cycles to random locations hours away...is there a way to make it use the default lat/lon ? otherwise the weather is pretty useless..
  • Which firmware version do you have now? (System -> Software versions)

I agree it's annoying to get a new gps fix when the gps has drifted.
I could program to always use the latitude/longitude from the settings, but I'm hesitant to fix something (and potentially introduce a new bug) for something which Garmin is going to release a fix any moment now.
  • Also impractical/impossible...I spend most of my day in an office. But I appreciate your concern for introducing a bug if Garmin is going to fix theirs.

    SW version 5.50
    GPS 4.40
  • Try syncing again with Garmin Express. The 4.40 GPS is an old version - 2.30 is actually newer and has Galileo. Maybe it's that.

I am having a issue getting the weather location to be accurate. It used to be, but now it appears to be setting the weather for another city in Idaho, USA.

I live in Portland, OR USA and set the latitude and longitude. Waited for it to update to a new city for multiple days and it does not update.

I have a Garmin Vivoactive 3 and it syncs with an iPhone X all throughout the day. I have also made sure the watch face and the watch have been updated.

  • yes you're facing the same vivoactive 3 firmware issue as TSLtrek above.... an issue for which Garmin needs to release a fix to have the gps no longer drift away. You can try Jim's suggestion to see whether that makes a difference.

the workaround for the issue is:
    - to get a new gps fix (start a gps activity such as run and wait for the green gps fix)
    or
    - to go into the settings of the app and set the default latitude/longitude to your city (slightly change the latitude by 0.001 so the face detects it as a new default latitude)
  • FYI - I updated to 2.30 GPS. The drift is not as extreme, but still happening.

peterdedecker, just sent you a donation but didn't have an option to specify a note on the tx. I was looking for a key to the data lover watch face. The TX ID 2S654084VW1346940. Let me know if you need anything else.
