    Hi Peter,

I just sent this to the contact developer page in the store, but I figured I'd post here as well and add a small suggestion for a feature change. I have noticed that my weather information does not appear to be updating every 2 hrs. In fact it has not updated in 12 hrs and counting. You mentioned that the status would be red if a data fetch failed, but I am a bit unclear as to what you mean. Are you saying the weather data on my watch will be in red instead of white? If so, then that is not happening. I have had my phone with me all day, bluetooth turned on and a good cell connection. Just in case, I also had the Garmin App open, although I an not sure what is needed for a proper data fetch. I'd love to have confidence that the data fetch will work properly before I donate as I otherwise am super impressed with your work and I wish to support further development.

Secondly-- I like having a move bar, and the move circles work as well, but aesthetically are not my cup of tea. If they were smaller I think I might like it better. In any case I would like the ability to show both the weather and a move bar. Is it possible to have the option of a move "arch" on the left side of the watch face similar to the steps and daylight gauges on the top and bottom?
Alternatively it appears there is a small amount of space underneath the heart rate/steps goal indicator where a small bar could be displayed.

    Thanks!

    Hi,
I still stuck with the weather on the city where I put Latitude and Longitude number in the watch face setting no matter what city I travel to, it won't change. If I delete Latitude and Longitude in the setting, watch face will error.
  • Kong :
There needs to be a location entered in the latitude/longitude setting, it can not be empty. Furthermore it has to be entered in the correct format (as the website http://www.latlong.net returns it)

The trigger for a location update is not travelling to a new location. Watch faces can only fetch the location from the last gps activity. So in order for the location in the watch face to update you need to start a new gps activity such as eg "run" (just getting a green gps fix and exiting the run app should do it)

    CMOS4 :
When the weather fetch fails then the time of last fetch will be in red text color. For detailed debug info set up a debug session as explained at the bottom of http://starttorun.info/data-lover

The space under the heart rate chart was already suggested in the past, I remember looking into it, but the loss of "whitespace" made it look too busy. Not sure anymore what reason I looked into it for, I don't think it was for a move bar feature, I'll re-evaluate the suggestion. I'll also consider the suggestion of the left gauge but I don't think I'll have a lot of space on the left side of the time especially not in 24hr mode when the digit starts with 2.

    Hi Peter,

I made a donation today for your excellent work on the Data Lover Watch Face. I received a key through my wife's e-mail and entered it into Garmin Mobile 3.5 hours ago and set the weather updates to every 15 minutes. The first update failed at 7:52, but now it is 8:52 and the weather still has not updated. No fetch has been attempted either as the time of the last fetch is still 7:52 in red. Do you have any advice or explanation as to why the watch is not even attempting to fetch the weather every 15 minutes?

Also even if it was still set to every two hours, shouldn't the watch attempt to fetch the weather at the first sync after a failed fetch attempt? In other words....if I did not have my phone with me during the fetch, so it fails, but then a few minutes later I have a connection why do I have to wait another 2 hours to attempt a fetch?

Thank-you in advance for your response!

    Brian
  • If there's no internet available a fetch will not be attempted (i don't have the source code at hand but i would expect the time to update)

make also sure you have a ACTIVE Bluetooth connection. (Sync your device in order to force an active connection). (See also FAQ)

If the weather update would be set at 2 hourly intervals it does it at exactly that interval: a failed or succesful previous sync does not influence this.

For more details set up a debug session.
  • Hi Peter,
When i display Wheather, Wheather +1, Wheather +2 on the bottom of the Watch, it is too close ...community.garmin.com/.../1401544.jpg
  • Yes that's a known issue. Should be fixed once I get to implementing dynamic field size
  • A other idea :
Be able to fix the GPS location: you enter the GPS coordinates of the city, but if you do an activity, it changes the GPS coordinates to use the location of the activity. I would like to be able to block the GPS coordinates to my city only
    :-)

  • I'll consider it Arnaud. For now you can force an update to your city after a gps activity by changing the latitude/longitude a little bit in the settings (just change the last number of your latitude).
