  • I've seen the same, and I think it is a bug in Garmin Express and/or Garmin Connect Mobile. Settings work perfectly in the simulator. I usually get the settings to stick by explicitly selecting the color every time even though it seems to be set correctly.

I'll look into it, but I think I've done everything correctly.

thanks for looking into this. it's beyond my understanding although i may have to try to download things and take my own shot at a watch face if i ever find the time.

i decided that with the non round screen (the chin and forehead being flat) on the FR watches, the minute market make less sense for simplicity. i liked your original design with the red 5 minute marks and simple numbers at the 12/6/9 positions.

The FR watches will probably support settings soon, and then Simplicity can be configured like that. In the meantime I have to set something as default, and in the simulator the minute markers looked rather nice.

Garmin should give all developers all their devices for free so we could test things properly ;-)

Actually the 3.10 FW (for at least the fr230 and maybe the fr630) is out. It's got the CIQ 1.2.1 VM, so settings with GCM work!

    :)

i like the minute marks, but with the non round face of the FR series, the screen looks markedly oval which IMHO, looks a little funky since i'm used to wearing a round watch all these years. the noncircular nature wasn't obvious with just the five minute marks.

then again, i do realize that a compromise has to be made with the shape. the simple round that is on CIQ has significant side bars that are really obvious with the white background of that face.

it's funny though. even with the minute marks not being turned off, the watch is ignoring the selection of Red for both 1 and 5 minute marks that show up on the settings screen.

On my fenix 3 I mange to change the color by always selecting red or white in the drop down boxes even when they indicate the correct color.

That being said, there is obviously something wrong somewhere...

i can't get the 5 minute marks to change from white no matter what it seems saved as. and as before, unchecking the minute marks says it is saved, but when i go back to look at the settings again the check boxes are still checked...(same goes for turning off the battery and bluetooth off symbols). this is all done using the Garmin Connect app on iOS right now (i don't have my USB cable with me to try again using Garmin Express)

basically no matter what i do, i get every feature turned on with white everything...

Marker settings should work on the Forerunner series now.
You should always select red or white in the drop down boxes even when they indicate the correct color to make sure the setting stick.

thanks for working so promptly on this.

the good news is that i have the watch face doing what i want it to do on a FR230, even if the settings page still keeps everything checked off in my Connect app. (it shows 1 minute marks on after i've saved it unchecked and return to the settings page. yet, it finally removes them from the face, and i have red markers now every 5 minutes, yay!)

thanks again! (and please bring your other simplicity faces to FR when you have the chance or inclination)

    other ideas for "Simplicity"...

Just marks every 5 minutes (with no numbers at 3/6/9/12)...that would be the utmost in simplicity :)

(or you could go crazy simple with nothing or just a sun/moon circle at 12 just like Movado)

Glad Simplicity finally behaves like you want it to :)
I'll and get around to updating the other Simplicity faces sometime next week.

And thanks for the suggestion about no digits, I might try that out.
