gimporter/gexporter - import FIT/GPX courses from your Android phone

This is the support thread of "gimporter" and the android companion app "gexporter".

Imagine you are on the go and want to upload a course to your Garmin device to follow the track. As of now, this involves uploading the gpx file to the Garmin web site, somehow create a course from it and then select "Export to device" in the mobile app.

Here comes gimporter. Download your FIT and GPX courses with the "gimporter" ConnectIQ app from the "Download" folder of your Android device.

Notes:

  • Keep the Android app open, while downloading!
  • Oregon and Rino devices download the unmodified GPX track. No point reduction or speed recalculation is done yet
  • On some devices (like the Edge 1030) you have to disable WiFi while using the app

  • Super application. Great thanks!

    Question:
    Is it possible to do it as the widget, the same as IQMapReceiver? ( https://apps.garmin.com/en-EN/apps/56b3b6e3-eb65-4c8d-8759-4ef007c5456e )

    What's the benefit?
  • In the tourism. Change of the decision during the walk: Generating the new GPX track in smartphone and export to the watch.

    * App - it is necessary to finish the activity "walk" (or other)
    * Widget - it isn't necessary to finish the activity "walk" - continuity of the data record.

    I apologise for my English.

    Hmm, if I turn the current app into a widget, it gets "Out of memory" for a small tracklist. So, I would have to contruct a special version, which is more memory conservative.

    GPS_Maniak,

    I didn't check. :mad:
    Today I did it But I have a problem with it.

    App in the phone:
    announcement: "CONNECTED App OK Widget OK"

    -> GPX import file it is FIT Coourse Server
    ... GPX Files (Prepared in LocusMap app)
    announcement: "GPX is FIT conversion successfully"
    -> send
    announcement: "too view input arguments!" "no data to transmit"

    What am I doing wrong? :confused:

    -------------------------------------------------------
    I am using IQMapReceiver and I am advertising (Garmin Polish forum) from the beginning. Super app for export of points.

    Courses. The "GPX/FIT exporter" application has additional interesting options:
    * Reduce Points to XXX points
    * Default Speed (for the virtual partner)
    Everything in one app ;) :)
    Of only a widget lack :-(

    to keep it short here, it´s described on the application description page . :D to stay compatible with the old Fenix devices the course features in that app is accessed with the menu button on the left side for new IQ watches (FIT server has to be enabled in Android, courses have to be requested from the IQ devices not the Android phone). The classic Waypoint mode is still handled with the Android main screen and the Start button on the watch when there is something available.

    Oh, it works with a smaller tracklist. :) I'll work towards making gimporter a widget :-)
  • @schlupp73 Upsss :mad: Thx!
    @Backslashhh Super :) :) :)
  • Hi I Hope you keep it as an App too. I used it to download a track and navigate for the first time at the weekend. it worked perfectly.:) So good in fact I plan on using it for a tour in a couple of weeks to download any ad-hoc route changes to my E1000. Great piece of work
