I've read somewhere that the custom field recording is now available in Aikido Monkey. Any timelines for an update on the .fit file recording within the apps?
The latest official date for the release of this new functionality that I've seen is "This Month". I have been working with the CIQ 2.1 preview version and I have the functionality working inside a Moxy Data Field. From what I can see, "This Month" is very reasonable.
It's looking like this will work on all CIQ devices. There was some question about whether the Aikido devices would have enough memory, but I have this working on a beta version of firmware on a Garmin 235 so it seems OK.
I will get updated versions of our data fields and apps posted on the store as soon as I can when this goes live. I'll send out the Moxy newsletter as soon as we have something functional and ready to try.
The Moxy data fields have already been updated. There are versions released in the App store for the following devices that will write Moxy data to the FIT file and have the data viewable in Garmin Connect.
vivoactive / vivoactive HR
Fenix 3 / Fenix 3 HR
Edge 520 / 820 / 1000
920XT
FR 230/235/630/735
However, there is a known bug. The 920XT and the Edge series devices have a bug in the firmware that causes the time and position data to be incorrectly saved to the FIT file.
I have versions of all 4 Moxy Apps (MoxyCycle, MoxyRun, M515Cyc and M515Run) ready to go with FIT file writing but they are not released in the App store yet. There are several more known bugs in the various device firmware that need to be fixed before these can be released with an acceptable level of functionality. Garmin is working on these bugs, but I don't have a timeline for release yet.
Hi Roger, i am thinking of acquiring a moxy. I have a fr235. Do you now if the fields and the running app are working fine with my watch? Id like that the data is recorded in the fit file. I have written also some apps and i have struggled with several fit contributor issues. I wonder if you have feddback from users using a fr235. Thanks
