Erg IQ

Installation & Configuration

ErgIQ can be installed from the Connect IQ store using the link below. Once installed, a limited set of application settings are available for the user to adjust. These settings as well as the pairing procedure are outlined in the user manual.

Requirements

ErgIQ will connect to a compatible fitness equipment system, the following is currently supported:

  • Concept2 Rower/SkiErg with PM5 (Firmware v22.015/156/722 or greater)

Known Issues

This is a BETA and therefore it has some items being worked through. For issues relating to FIT recording, pairing or Garmin Connect, even if they are listed here please report that you have the issue as well. This will help accurately determine the scale of the problem.

  • workout metrics are incorrect: distance, calories, stroke count (upgrade PM5 to BETA v22.014 or greater using C2 Utility if your comfortable doing this, otherwise it will be fixed in the next release)
  • Fenix3, FR920XT, and vivoactive HR have issues pairing (see post #4 for temporary workarounds until resolved)
  • vivoactive doesn't save last lap and session data correctly (issue being investigated)
  • Garmin Connect doesn't integrate developer FIT fields using native number mapping for summary, laps, or record fields

Non-Garmin FIT Analysis Sites

ErgIQ takes advantage of the newer defined developer FIT fields. These fields are a new standard that are not currently recognized at all non-Garmin sites. The following sites are known to work but others may work as well, this is not an exhaustive listing:

ErgIQ Reviews or Other Information

  • rowingmusings ErgIQ Review - Review
  • And I forgot to mention that the "save"-screen never appeared as mentioned by others here. (I have an FR920xt).
  • Update and try out the most recent update (1.3.2). Hopefully that will get everyone back on track.
  • test with 1.3.1 (not 1.3.2) yesterday with PM5 FW 25 and my FR 935
    in 2 sessions ~30' +~10'
on Garmin Connect (Web or mobile gives the same result/display)
    - 1st session : all IQ info and IQ row summary fields are there ... except "ErgIQ Version " =0 on Web / =1.3.1 on Mobile? [this bug is on Garmin side from my PoV]
    https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/2435077552

    - 2nd session : all IQ info is there but no IQ row summary fields nor Erg IQ version
    https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/2435078476

I checked both sessions .fit files with FFRT but cannot notice any difference in header, data or info. All IQ developer data are there

Maybe ERG IQ 1.3.2 will solve this bug (some Flags not properly reset after saving?)
  • Hello lcj2, Happy to report that after loading update 1.3.2 everything is back to normal, I did a session it was actively saved and did one more test session immediately after to see if that would save as well and everything was there after syncing with Garmin Connect. It would seem you found the bug, thank you again for the app and your continued interest in improving it.
  • Good news - it works again.

But still there is the GPS issue with the VA3 - maybe you could fix this with the next update.
  • I can also gladly confirm that after the 1.3.2 update all is back to normal (i.e. working fine). Thanks again for the app and all the work you put in to this.
  • I can't pair my VAHR to PM5 anymore. Using ErgIQ 1.3.2 and the latest 25.... beta for PM5. The latter provides for a separate ANT+ FE-C connection, I'm turning on this one, and then run ErgIQ on the watch. Previously I had to quit the app on the watch once and it paired from the second attempt, not nothing helps. Am I doing anything wrong?
  • Hello, I’m new here. I recorded my first workout, an interval distance workout. Fenix5x to PM5 latest firmware. Time was recorded. Average split and distance was not recorded. Did I do something wrong?

Is it not listed in the top section but in the Connect IQ section or not at all?
  • I normally use the erg iOS app to allow my rower erg / skierg data to be uploaded to my logbook. Can I also use the erg iq app so I get the correct data into gstmin. The reason I ask it is that it seems to have been a bit hit and miss when trying yo use both. Is there a correct sequence so that both the watch with the app and the phone both get enabled. Apologies if this is answered elsewhere.

I don't personally use that configuration but others have reported success. I believe someone posted in the thread with the steps they used which work.
