Erg IQ

Installation & Configuration

ErgIQ can be installed from the Connect IQ store using the link below. Once installed, a limited set of application settings are available for the user to adjust. These settings as well as the pairing procedure are outlined in the user manual.



Requirements

ErgIQ will connect to a compatible fitness equipment system, the following is currently supported:

  • Concept2 Rower/SkiErg with PM5 (Firmware v22.015/156/722 or greater)


Known Issues

This is a BETA and therefore it has some items being worked through. For issues relating to FIT recording, pairing or Garmin Connect, even if they are listed here please report that you have the issue as well. This will help accurately determine the scale of the problem.

  • workout metrics are incorrect: distance, calories, stroke count (upgrade PM5 to BETA v22.014 or greater using C2 Utility if your comfortable doing this, otherwise it will be fixed in the next release)
  • Fenix3, FR920XT, and vivoactive HR have issues pairing (see post #4 for temporary workarounds until resolved)
  • vivoactive doesn't save last lap and session data correctly (issue being investigated)
  • Garmin Connect doesn't integrate developer FIT fields using native number mapping for summary, laps, or record fields

ErgIQ takes advantage of the newer defined developer FIT fields. These fields are a new standard that are not currently recognized at all non-Garmin sites. The following sites are known to work but others may work as well, this is not an exhaustive listing:

    downgrade to PM5 v22 (release version) did the trick. Now it works fine again.

    Well, I guess it's not THE trick. :facepalm:
    Yesterday it worked fine, but today I tried and tried, but wasn't able to connect my F3HR to the PM5 at all. After ~15' of trying (turning on, off, on…) I gave up.



    I just tried this on PM5 FW23.4 and everything worked fine for me. The PM5 has MANY options and programming options, can you please list out the whole configuration your using and the workout your configuring so I can try and re-create this. Thanks!

    My setup is pretty much simple…



    - USB power supply attached (saving battery)
    - hard reset (method 1)
    - correct date & time
    - english language
    - display contrast (140)
    - heart rate belt via ANT+ (Garmin)
    - F3HR
    - workout tape: interval (e.g. 20'/3r, 20'/2, 10'/1r)

    - last but not least: With PM5 I don't use USB sticks any more as they draw quite a lot of power (compared to ANT+ or BLE) and made things quite difficult in the past.

    Connection gets lost after 3-5' into the workout. Then the watch looks like this. With my Garmin Edge 1000 it happens too. On my SkiErg it happens too. I also tried the PM5 of my SkiErg to my RowErg, but same result.

    Can you send any logs in /GARMIN/GARMIN/APPS/LOGS/CIQ_LOG.TXT? This is a redesigned version to clean things up and I believe I got everything but maybe something is going on. Can you also describe if the HR on the PM stops displaying during these rows and if the light on the back of the monitor is still blinking?


    I'm currently in the process of updating to v23.004 BETA for the PM5. I have attached the log file here.

    I can confirm that I am getting the same results as dr3do. I un-installed and re-installed ErgIQ via GarminExpress. I also updated to BETA v23.004 on the PM5 unit. Connection with fenix3 happened after one soft restart (turning on/off of the watch) and connected fine. Did a straightforward 30 min session at low rate; from the main menu selected "Just Row" and proceeded to row. Light was flashing the entire time during the workout. About five minutes I looked over at the watch and saw the "IQ!" screen showing, however, PM5 light was flashing still. I have been using a USB stuck into the back of the PM5 (but I have done so using all versions to date of ErgIQ) so that I don't have to re-connect HRM and be able to write the data. Again, this has not affected the ability of ErgIQ to record data to the watch in the past.

    Stuck after 5' with IQ! Sign
    No problem with my VAHR and EDGE 520 (semi marathon workout) with erg IQ app in version 1.00; but both are running CIQ 2.3.1 (F3 is on ciq 1.3 and will defintively remains at this level)

    Version 1.0.1 was posted which should resolve this issue. Give it a try and see if it works better.

    1.0.1 installed, 935 stopped receiving data and the app froze after 11 minutes. PM5 (23.04) and Erg iOS app kept going to the end of the workout

    When it stopped receiving data did the HR on the PM5 stop as well or it just froze?

    no PM5 and the iOS App kept going it was just 935 that froze and subsequently uploaded just the portion of the row that it did get data for.
  • Version 1.0.1 was posted which should resolve this issue. Give it a try and see if it works better.


    Tried 2 workouts (continuous and interval from PM5 [not Rowpro]) and confirm that version 1.0.1 works like a charm on my F3, VAHR and Edge 520. :)
    I have a request for future updates : in the developer data fields could you add 2 columns with the weight corrected speed and weight corrected power, taking into account user weight in Garmin devices (based on C2 weight correction formulas)? because power is ^3 of speed and as a LWT rower I add diffculty to compare rowing power with Bike or (Stryd) running power.
