Now .. Your Heart and the Vivoactive HR device teams up to 'Measure your Sleep'

Get HR Sleep in the Garmin Connect IQ Store here ..

https://apps.garmin.com/en-US/apps/b...2-c9fe3f777fc0

Now measure your Sleep Performance with HR Sleep .. see how your sleep improves over time using your HR data.

Be sure that your battery is charged to at least 30% before running HR Sleep overnight. That green light .. is a little hungry.

Sleep Zones Example ..

Set Minimum Sleep HR - 40

Sleep Zone 0 .. less than 40 bpm
Sleep Zone 1 .. 40 - 43 bpm
Sleep Zone 2 .. 44 - 47 bpm
Sleep Zone 3 .. 48 - 51 bpm
Sleep Zone 4 .. 52 - 55 bpm
Sleep Zone 5 .. over 55 bpm

Thank you ..

    - Altered start screen.

Previously it checked to see if your HR value was > 0 before you could get the green bar. Well if you have invalid HR data .. it would send the device values of 255. That of course would be over 0 and the app would allow you to start. But HR Sleep did have a check while it was running to see if the data was invalid and pause if that was detected. Well now .. with this new version it will check for invalid data on the start screen and will indicate that invalid data has been detected on that screen and will not allow you into the application.

If you get invalid data ... I would recommend restarting your device and updating the firmware if there is a newer version.

I personally have never received invalid data from the Vivoactive HR, but this is one extra check to ensure that things work as they should.

I have tested the above change to HR Sleep with firmware ver 5.00 and all is fine. I do recommend updating to ver 5.00 as there is a much needed change to the way intensity minutes are done. Btw .. the default is the old way, so you have to go into settings and change them to use ZONES for your moderate and vigorous intensity minutes.

    Thanks

Ok .. well a post about something that happened to me yesterday that I thought I should talk about.

My VivoactiveHR .. I took it off and left it on my desk for like 14 hours. It is almost never off my wrist except to shower.

The thing, I went to use HR Sleep last night and well it ran for about 10 seconds and the sensor shut off. I have been using HR Sleep for longer than anyone here and run it every night. It is the only app that I have that I truly run every day. This is the first time that I have had issues. It has been well over a year on this one. However .. me being the pretty smart Garmin guy that I am, the first thing I know it is not my app but rather the VivoactiveHR having a bad day. So I rebooted it .. and well, all is fine again.

If you experience this issue .. just reboot your device and start the application again. If you are curious .. the application starts the sensor when you are on the start screen and it does not get shut off at all until the application exits. So it runs 100% of the time that the app is running. Pretty simple stuff here .. so if you have issues, reboot. If that does not fix it .. feel free to let me know however I have had no issues. Btw .. I am running the latest firmware but have seen no issues with it at all. However if you take it off .. eventually it will detect that there is no HR data and will pause. That is normal operation and you will get the pause screen with a note that no HR is being detected.

  • Reboot is when use this method (left button pushed for 15 seconds): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I5xurB9jUds
Sync watch before reboot, why will lose all steps.
Restart is when power off watch and power on.

I think that the point was that if the VivoactiveHR has issues and reboots on its own .. you will likely lose all your steps. I have done IT for over 20 years .. I call it a reboot and will never change, and do not care less about what word you like to use.

    [Version 1.274] Jan 16 / 2019

    - Added alternate blinking time for Overall Average on the Average screen when the time is over 8 hours and the over 8 hour data is hidden. This is to indicate that the average is not correct unless you show the > 8 hour data.
