IN CONCLUSION!

I am an independent software developer. I'm also a dedicated runner, passionate about my health/fitness and been an owner of many Garmin devices over the years (305, 310, 910, vivofit to name a few). If you like BigTime and want to find out more please visit www.boiledsweets.com/garnin.

Now go, go run...

Thanks! :)
  • Proposed changes in next version.

Remove year (surely everyone knows what year it is and it takes up valuable space)
Switch the distance and kcal (see below for reason)
    Add kilojoules alongside the kcal
Do not show icons if specific feature is off and light grey if on

NB: Some poeple dont like the seconds in the middle, so when garmin allow us to configure the watch I'll add that as a feature, i.e. show/don't show seconds
  • distance and cal ... they are on the same level then
do not show icons if specific feature is off.... nice (try white when on) something more distinct
on my FR920xt I have bluetooth enabled, but I do not see an icon on the face when it is waiting for connect ?

kcal and kjoule will be on the same level with distance underneath
    white icons then
garmin have not added Bluetooth state in the connectIQ yet, it's coming...I'm told...
  • Sneak preview of next version

    Cosmetic changes to simplify look
    - Do not show year
    - Do not show icons when disabled
    - Changed 'miles' to 'mi' (mi is the abbeviation for miles and now matches the two characters 'km' for kilometers)
    - The "/" in the steps count is now light grey
    - Removed the dark grey background of the steps progress bar
  • What do the symbols on the top left mean?
    The music symbol?
    The heart beat symbol?
    The crescent symbol?
  • Tones / vibrate / sleep

Thanks. First two make sense but the sleep displays the whole time?
  • So please tell me, before I install the new version - if I install it on the new firmware, it will always use the exiting of lowpower mode and show the seconds? Isn't it possible, to remain in low power mode all the time? I am really afraid, it will cause battery drain...

In the next version the icons (tones/vibrate/sleep) are only shown if enabled.

    Garmin say...

At this time, it is not possible to disable the exit low power gesture on watch faces. The impact on battery life depends on use, but should be negligible for typical use. If the user looks at their watch every 10 seconds and forces the device to be perpetually awake, it will impact battery life significantly.

Yes, you are right, assuming the watch wakes only when it supposed to. But as it counts steps while driving, I believe it will also wake up by mistake more often than it should. But this is rather Garmin's problem, not the watch face. Hope, that they will include the option to disable it before going life with official software update.
