IN CONCLUSION!

I am an independent software developer. I'm also a dedicated runner, passionate about my health/fitness and been an owner of many Garmin devices over the years (305, 310, 910, vivofit to name a few). If you like BigTime and want to find out more please visit www.boiledsweets.com/garnin.

Now go, go run...

Thanks! :)
  • Great face!
One request is that the date display font makes it look a bit messier than it should I think. (it is a different size and colour.. two much difference).
I think it will look a lot calmer with a white font (or option to change)

Agree with the option to change date display to dd mmm yy (or just dd mmm)

Thank you for the feedback. Until Garmin allow us developers to provide real time config changes for watch faces on the watch I am limited to what I can do to offer a way to change the date size, formatting. But be certain as soon as Garmin let us developers give you the chance to configure on the watch I will add that functionality. Including a inverse version :-)

I really love this face, really a good piece of job!
After the update - even better (running with beta FW 2.64)

One small request - could You enable any sort of notification that a alarm is set on?
Default Garmin face has a small bell on top of the screen - this would help a lot.

P.S. I'd like to contribute for all Your hard work - a small donation?
please share info on how to reward You for the effort.

And keep up the awesome job ;)

Hi, i'd like to disagree with changing the date idea - i like it as it is:
    2 digits of day name _ dd/mm/yy

You see, this face will be / is used by ppl all around the globe,
i think a choice for the user would be great (if possible) - so we can manually adjust the date format and this way end our disagreement :)

Thank you for the positive feedback, it's really appreciated!

I shall look into the alarm, us developers are 'limited' at the moment with what cool stuff we can offer because the development toolkit is still quite young. But I shall certainly put this on the list of things to add to BigTime - thanks for the idea!

As for contribution, thanks, I shall send you a private message. Trust me, it's appreciated!

I agree with both camps. Some thoughts :

Auto detect the choice of the formatting. As there is no way to specify MM/DD or DD/MM on the device, we have to 'guess' by drilling into the language chosen. So if the language is English US then display the date in MM/DD else display in DD/MM. What would be REALLY useful is if someone could tell me what language options are available on the device so I can go back to the Garmin dev team to find a realistic solution to this problem that would work for the global customer base. Thank you.

Or failing that an ability (which Garmin tell me is coming) to allow us developers to write custom config options for watch faces.

So please bear with me whilst I wait for Garmin :-)

The supported languages for each device are listed in the devices.xml file in the <sdk root>/bin folder.
  • So there ARE English American AND English (non US)? ????

It would be great if GARMIN could give us developers an example of how to EASILY detect US and non US config so we can show the date in US and non US formats?!

    PLEASE GARMIN! HOW!?!!??!

From what I've seen in the 920 documentation comparing it to the simulator options there isn't a way to detect and test for US and non US formats on the watch.

GARMIN - a LOT of your customer base is NOT in the US. Please tell us developers how we can accommodate non US users so we can help sell more devices?! It is a simple request. Let us write apps that GLOBAL customers will be interested in, so that they will want to buy YOUR hardware!

    SIMPLES.
  • As mentioned previously, you can localize your resources. You can have a resource folder for eng_GBR as well as eng_USA. It isn't a perfect solution, but if you are being impatient and want something that works for 90% of the people, the resource system can do it. Then when the settings functionality comes along, you can rip the code out.

Thx a lot for this great watch face. I love it on my 920...

A short request: would it be possible to show the current altitude on the watch face also since the 920 has a barometric altimeter. Would be great for hiking in the mountains.
