  • Does not load in Fenix 3 HR

Unable to get Hiking Fields to load at all in my Fenix 3HR.

I've stripped out all 3rd party apps including other watch faces and even powered off and on watch.

Hiking Fields is showing on my IQ Connect list of apps but is not loading in watch.

    Thanks is advance
  • Hy,

there was a bug in the calculation (speedvalue was zero during divison) in Version 1.6.0 which happens when the speed is zero.
In the simulator the this effect was not visible, because the speed never is zero.

    Fixed in Version 1.6.1.

  • Can anyone explain to me what the bar does? what it represents?

the instructions say " TE as color of the heart rate and a bar" which doesnt really explain it.
  • Lower portion of datafield change (batt/GPS)

    Hello,

    Great Data field overall!

I am looking forward to using as my primary screen on a 10 day hike on my Fenix 3 HR (120km hike with 3 passes above 8500 ft and hopefully 3 peak scrambles of 11000ft).
Curious about how to change the lowest portion of the Datafield from GPS info to Battery?
I will be using ultratrac for the entire time, but would prefer to monitor the Battery level rather than the GPS signal; I cant seem to be able to find where I can change this.
By being able to monitor the battery level midday I will be able to insure that I start a recharge without losing any data.

Not to rush any responses, but I am due to leave within 48 hours and will have zero mobile reception while away.

Any help will be useful and appreciated.

Thank you very much and greatly appreciate this datafield.

I was able to answer my own question above in reviewing the provided documentation and understanding that the display would switch between the 2 options (Batt/GPS signal).

I was very disappointed to have setup the Datascreen prior to heading out (and without testing prior); upon arriving at the trailhead and selecting the app and Datascreen I was provided with a Connect IQ error screen and the entire app was unusable.
I believe that this is because the hike was very remote and there was no cellular service and thus the Garmin connect features (training Effect, etc) where not available and therefore the Datascreen showed an error.

Through my disappointment I did reconfigure the Garmin DataScreens to provide me with similar information; which was a good experience to be able to configure the base software to present the information I was looking for.

After 7 days above 3000m, 110kms of distance, 9kms of ascent, 10km of decent, 4 mountain passes and 3 river headwaters.

    Great hike; great time away.

I hope that this error was user based because an hiking app that requires Garmin Connect IQ continual connectivity means that it application is limited to front ranges and urban parks.

If the error is user based (something I have missed) please provide clarity as I would love to be able to use the datafield in the future as it doesn't appear as awesome.
  • Any intentions on supporting the 735XT?
  • Crashes upon start

Works fine until I'm ready to actually start a hike. Then I get the crash screen on the apps first data screen. This has happened to me twice. Almost like the app knows I'm about to start a hike and devices to crash.
  • Fenix 5x availability

Hi, I love the Hiking Fields. Any chance to make it available on Fenix 5x? Thank you!
