Race Countdown

App:Sailing Race Countdown timer with a display of Current Speed/Direction and TOD/Duration/Distance/Max Speed after countdown finishes.
*** Please use with latest version of the firmware for your watch ***
Supports:
Fenix3, Fenix3 HR, 920xt, Epix
Can only test on a Fenix 3, all other models are tested on the Simulator - if there is a problem with these please post in this thread.
Features:
- 0/1/2/3/4/5/10/20/30/40/50/60 minutes Countdown times can be selected
- Set default Display after countdown and Units
- Minute, Display and Units settings are saved for next time the app is started
- Sync Countdown to nearest minute or round down (except last min)
- Stop Countdown and Reset
- Distance and Time to Startline
- After the Countdown completes two displays can be toggled
- Display 1 - TOD/Race Duration/Total Distance (NM/System Default) and Max Speed (Knots/System Default)
- Display 2 - Current Speed (Knts/System Default) and Bearing (Degs)
- When Display 1/2 are shown - Min Jibe Speed & Max reach Speed can be set to display.
- Can Save or Discard activity data on exit
Usage:
- Press Menu (LONG PRESS +2sec) to change Countdown time/Default Display/Units/Enable-Disable Jibespeed & Startline etc
- If timer is counting down the Down button will sync to the nearest minute
- If timer is stopped the Down button will reset the timer
- If Distance to StartLine is enabled go to StartLine settings in Main Menu and set position of StartLine Marks. Mark positions are saved for next time the app is started. Mark positions can be cleared or reset.
- After the Countdown completes use the UP button to toggle between the two displays
- After the Countdown completes press Stop and then the Down button to reset Countdown
- If JibeSpeed is enabled a display of min jibe speed & max rerach speed (for last reach) will display for 10sec. If no jibe is detected or if stop moving the max reach speed will only display. NOTE: The Alert sound can be disabled.
- Long press the Down button to access main watchface/widgets
- Press Back to exit and save/discard

Love this app as it does pretty much does all that my old Sunnto and Pathfinder did plus it has the added advantage that I don't need to change watch all the time and I can review our track after the race.

I've just updated to the latest version and the first thing I noticed was the current time is now displayed on the countdown screen which is great but it only displays hours and minutes, it would be awesome if it could include the seconds as well as this would allow exact moment warning flag is raised rather than guessing provided the race committee have sync'ed their clocks.

Add 60 minutes timer if possible

Is it possible to add a 60 minutes timer so i can use this app during DEFI?

They use a 60 minutes starting procedure.

Updated:
- 20/30/40/50/60min countdown added
- Min Jibe Speed & Max reach Speed

Was thinking of adding distance and time to line. I have tested this and is reasonably accurate. When close to the line however it can be up to 5m off - this is probably due to gps errors.

Would this be a feature that people would want. Let us know.

Hi, I have downloaded the Race Countdown app for a 920 XT but as reported in a review the menu button does not access the app settings. The countdown shows 3 minutes and does no seen adjustable. Also the GPS signal is inactive so there is no stats data recorded for review on Garmin Conncet. Any ideas how to solve this? Off to Defi in 2 weeks so would be really useful, thanks!

920xt Menu

Hi Nutinbuta,
I only have the Fenix3. Testing the 920xt on the Garmin simulator the menu works - see image attached. To access the menu Long press the Menu button - you need to hold the button down for 2-3 seconds. Is this what you are trying?

Hi Hannes, thanks for the info, great app! I can now access the menu, as you said in need to hold the menu button down for 2 secs. Will check the GPS and stats later. Thanks for the advice and see you all at the start line!
