Watchface: Clear and Powerful

The idea of this Clear & powerful watchface is to be clear as possible with ability to present the data either when they are needed or when it's most relevant time to show them.

So there are two main views of this watchface:

  • Simple view - presenting minimum required information
  • Detailed view - presenting much more information

Usually (by default) detailed view is activated for while by wrist gesture.

On simple view you can experience appearing some relevant information when something is happening e.g. you have new notification, lost phone connection, battery is almost empty or sunrise/sunset time is coming soon.

Additionally in detailed view, for first few seconds, some alternatives data are presented e.g week/day of year, day duration, distance walked.

You can customize this watchface in Connect IQ settings by changing colors, it's bahviour, etc...

Give it a try and give a feedback below.

FAQ:

1. Sunset/sunrise info not presented
After clean install or upgrade sunrise/sunset/day duration is not presented - please run any outdoor activity to get gps coordinates, then came back to watchface.
After GPS is set, last location is stored in the settings and updated always when watch gets new coordinates.

2. Weather or Altitude info is not presented
Weather info is available only for Garmin devices with 3.2 IQ SDK, - it is taken from Garmin new API to get already cached & present in watch weather data from Garmin.

3. Can not uninstall watchface
Sometimes users are reporting issue with uninstalling watchface. This is on Garmin side, not developer. Try first to change to another watchface on your device, then to uninstall it using GCM (Garmin Connect Mobile)

4. Feature is not available on my watch
For selected "legacy" devices adding new features is limited due to its' limitations (no. of supported colors, iQ SDK less then 3.0, small memory itc).
Legacy devices has its' own settings & source (fr45, swim2, fr230, fr235, fr630, fr735xt, d2bravo, fenix3, fenix3hr, approachs60 )
Due to memory limitations development for those legacy devices has been frozen on 2.2 version - please do not expect future changes.
Some other features can be specific version of Garmin IQ SDK depended e.g. weather info.

5. Crashes & bugs
If you are experiencing some failure behaviors contact me directly by Contact Developer link.

6. Wrist gesture does not work
On Vivoactive 3 & 4 there is confirmed bug in Garmin firmware preventing from sending wake up event from sleep mode after wrist gesture: forums.garmin.com/.../onexitsleep-not-being-called-on-va4
One of the potential reason is a situation when you have switched on 'do not disturb' option in Garmin watch settings.

7. Watchface is not responding after tapping into touch screen
Watchface developer has no access to touch screen events, so can not react on such action.

8. Can't install - install is queued in Garmin IQ
This is related or to connection between your phone and device or availability of Garmin services.
It's not watchface depended and developer can not help with that.

9. How to change to 24h or 12h clock, C fo F temperature, kilometres to miles distance, meters to feet altitude
Use standard device settings in your watch - usually under Settings / System / Time and Settings / System / Units

10. Settings are in English only. Why not in my language ?
I am developing this watchface in my spare time for fun - I don't have time to prepare and maintain settings & description in tens of localization. Sorry for that.

Releases & Features:

For all legacy watches (with IQ sdk less than 3.0 & memory limitations) development of new features has been frozen on 2.2 version.
This relates to: fr45, swim2, fr735xt, d2bravo, fr230, fr235, fr630, fenix3, approachs60

  • Thanks for the quick reply!

I have Venu, missed a bit the weather icon from my previous watch face (crystal) but prefer a lot your design. Again thanks a lot

  • Ver 2.3 just released with:

    - Weather info: conditions, temperature, humidity & wind - available to switch on in settings, working only for devices with SDK 3.2 IQ which is available for newest Garmin watches e.g.: fenix6 series, f245, f745, f945, marq series, venu series, vivo3 music, vivo4 - please check if you need upgrade Garmin watch first

    - Distance presented in miles for statute units

    - Too low heart rate alert added

    - AM/PM indicator shown in detailed view if there is a space

    - Darker colors for alerting icons / text when white background is used

  • Why not for 735? The watch can handle weather, had two other watchfaces with weather...

  • Because I am using Garmin new API to get already cached & present in watch weather data from Garmin.
Otherwise it would take lots of resources to take weather info from external sites like openweather.org  with need to prepare background process, timer synchronization, data caching, api key input, etc.
    Maybe in the future ...

  • There is a problem with the sun event times: After sunset I don't see the sunrise time of the next day, it is todays' sunrise time again! At midnight it changes to the correct time. Time changing is switched to 5 minutes after sun event.

  • After changing the new sun event time to 1hr the whole watchface crashed and resets its settings. FR735

  • Thanks for reporting -  I will investigate this. As far as crash is concerned - was it first setting change after upgrade to newest version or one of next ? Did you change anything else ?

  • I had the latest version since it was published. As an update, so no new installation. After that bug with the sunrise time changing to the correct new time at midnight instead of 5 minutes after sunset I wanted to change the settings back to 1hr after sunset and see what happens today. But that messed up the whole watchface. All settings reset and very weird: The colors of the time had gone mad! It was 01:10 and I saw a white 0, a red 1, the gray line between hours and minutes, another red 1 and a blue 0. It should be 01 in white, 10 in blue... I even wasn't able to repair the settings. So I had to uninstall the watchface. I'm waiting for an update now. In between I installed another watchface. It works without problems so I don't think that my watch went mad.

  • Don't pay attention to colors - you can switch it off in settings (clock colors tweaks).
As far as sunevent time changes at midnight/midday I did a small change & release update.

Still I couldn't reproduce your case in the Garmin simulator - so hoping this and/or re-installation will help.

  • The colors worked fine as move indicator. Until last night when the whole watchface was messed up and all the settings changed back to what it was before didn't work anymore.
