Watchface: M2

This is the support thread for the M2 watchface:

has created a Facebook group for designs here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/423319952037948

And this PDF files contains a quick visual index to the designs posted in this thread: >>>    ForumProfiles1.pdf    <<<

To create your own design or modify one, install & use the M2 Designer app on your watch. These are the steps you would go through:

  • Optionally paste a text code into the "Profile Text" setting of M2 Designer & save the settings, or load one of your previously saved designs (either via the settings or the in-app menu).
  • Run the M2 Designer app (found underneath your activities list) and create your design.
  • Once you've finished, open the Garmin settings for M2 Designer.
  • The text code in "Profile Text" will now represent whatever your design looks like, so copy the text code from "Profile Text" - and be careful to select the whole text.
  • Close the settings for M2 Designer.
  • Open the Garmin settings for M2 (watchface) instead.
  • Delete any text that was already in "Profile Text" - this step helps to avoid potential problems
  • Paste the text code into "Profile Text".
  • Save the settings.
  • Now when you view the M2 watchface it will show your changes.

A guide for accessing the Garmin settings is here: https://forums.garmin.com/developer/connect-iq/w/wiki/14/changing-your-app-settings-in-garmin-express-gcm-ciq-mobile-store.

  • >>>>> The only thing I miss (not sure if this can be added?) Is the option to show the lock icon when watch is locked.

Unfortunately it isn't possible - as CIQ watchfaces can't tell if it is locked or not Disappointed (Unless I missed it)

  • - looking into the day of week thing - but unfortunately the code you pasted is not a valid one, so I can't test it (it doesn't start with 01). If you could post it again I will Slight smile

Are you using the new Dials to display the day of week or one of the Rings with 7 sections?

  • - aha I think I can guess the problem if you are using the Rings to display day of week: the number of segments highlighted will depend on whether you are using a "secs" (or seconds specific style) or a "ring" style.

The "secs" styles use the fonts intended for seconds, and they align with the positions of the second indicators.

Whereas the "ring" styles fill the space between seconds.

When a "ring" style wants to indicate a value of N, then N segments get highlighted - as that indicates N units are filled.

But when a "secs" style wants to indicate a value of N, then N+1 segments are highlighted - the segment at 0, plus the next N. Again indicating that it goes from 0 to N - the markers indicate the end points (like hands) rather than a count of the number of units.

Hopefully that makes sense, even if it's not what you want Slight smile

An easy solution for you might be to cover up the first highlighted icon, if that is possible? And you would also need to make the arc have 8 elements in it. (As that would be 7 gaps between them, for the 7 days). Not ideal but it will work ...

  • Hi guys,

Here is my first effort post-update (thanks again markdotai). I really struggled to build an harmonious design while using the new arc along with a huge digital hour. As using arcs allow us to assign clearly which metric is which (was more difficult using rings), I didn't use any color in this one, however, the design is done in a way that allows you to module it as you wish quite easily (replace metrics you don't like and use some colors where you like it). I personally have a saphir model and as there are a lot of reflections I really like having the most contrast possible, hence the black and white. Hope you like it, do not hesitate to upvote if so!

    Cheers!

  • But, it needs some modifications for my FX5X plus saphire Joy

  •  so sorry! I had no idea! And I used the tiny font, so I guess it will be quite a mess to adapt it! Again, my bad! Do not hesitate to post an update if you manage to adapt the designe for those who may want it!

  • I made this watchface tonight. I like it!

From top to bottom: date, steps, calories, heart rate, active calories, intensity minutes, seconds. The upper dial is for steps and the lower is for intensity minutes. A red battery icon will appear if the battery is low (<25%).

    Code:

  • Would like the code for this one.

  • an idea for the weight icon could be a scale or a weight or a fat person
