This will provide access to data from thousands of weather stations in the "Weather Underground". Only tested in the US, but I understand it's available in many other locations.

Not just the weather in your town, but it could be your own back yard, if you have a weather station connected to WU!

To use this widget, you WILL NEED an "APIKEY" from WU. You can get one for no cost but only if if have a weather station that sends data to WU,

.
Many of the following posts are for the old version of this widget which is no longer available, so check at the end for info on the new version.

  • Hi, guys. After status "Requesting data from WU" i receive an error: "Data error -2" why this happening? :(

There are a number of reasons for this. One I've seen is switching between a wifi network and a cell network while the request is in progress. Try again after moving to a different spot.
  • Another nice CIQ APP/Widget, thanks!

A couple of issues on my FR235 with 0.53d:
    - I generally end up getting the weather screen but maybe 8/10 attempts I get "this key does not exist - keynotfound". Do they limit the number of lookups?
    - when it works it does not switch to the moonphase screen after 10 seconds

-Yes, they do limit the key, but I've not seen this myself - after you've had a key for a while, you build up a bit of a buffer, so you can over use it once in a while. It could be the site itself is having problems - I see that every month or so.

    - Check you app settings - that's where you say how fast it will rotate. Try changing it and then changing it back.
  • Ok so the "buffer" seems to be there now, I'm not getting errors anymore. Still no second screen though, switched to 0, then to 5 in GC, no change. Could it be made to change manually by pressing "enter"/"ok" ?

It should work. What are you using to change the app settings? GE or GCM? Did you save it to the watch after each change?

Has it ever worked for you?

    Try uninstalling and re-installing.
  • Tried both GC and GE, changed the settings 3 times, no change. Also it waits for GPS each time, regardless of the setting. The "theme" setting works though.
  • Ok, I think I know what's happening - it has to do with your weather station. I've heard of something like this before with some locations in Europe.

They aren't WU stations, and don't respond the same way. You don't see the sun and moon screen because the data isn't available using the station name, so the screens don't switch. Also, with the station name, the length is shorter than I expect, so it uses GPS each time.

I'll see what I can do here - I now have a .fit file with a location like this so I can run it in the simulator and try things. If I can fix it, it will probably take a few days.

When you get the weather conditions, the top line shows <station>-<location>. The <station> is less than 5 characters, correct?
  • WEBVAN - Ok, I'm already testing fixes for non WU stations. In the locations I'm testing, you get sun/moon times, and also only fire up GPS the first time or when requested.

The one thing that won't work, is that from app-settings, changing a non WU weather station name to another non WU station name will have no effect (you need to manually request a location update with the menu key). You can change a non-WU name to a actual WU name, and it will use the WU station name, and if you change a WU station name to a non WU station name, it will fire up GPS automatically and use your current location. I think this will have little impact for users, as I don't think most people use app-settings to change a station name.

I should have an update in the store late today or Wed (US time)
  • Sounds good, yes I have only 4 letters in the station name, it's the closest airport apparently.
