Weather Underground widget

Available in the app store! For the vivoactive and new forerunners!

This will provide access to data from thousands of weather stations in the "Weather Underground". Only tested in the US, but I understand it's available in many other locations.

Not just the weather in your town, but it could be your own back yard, if you have a weather station connected to WU!

To use this widget, you WILL NEED an "APIKEY" from WU. You can get one for no cost but only if if have a weather station that sends data to WU,

.
Many of the following posts are for the old version of this widget which is no longer available, so check at the end for info on the new version.

  • Sounds good, yes I have only 4 letters in the station name, it's the closest airport apparently.

Yup, that's it. Testing with a few .fit files I have from Europe right now (I playback .fit files to use their GPS data) it will be 0.53e in the store (later today)

Problems fixed, thanks. GPS can be forced with a "menu" press upon launch too.

I was wondering what are the letters that appear at the bottom of the screen during launch (and sometimes later), I've seen D or G.
  • The D and G stand for "Data" and "GPS". You see the "D" when requesting data from the website, and "G" when it's looking for your location with GPS.

You'll typically see "D" twice when you start the widget. The first one is getting the current conditions, and the second is when it's getting the sun/moon status.
  • I am getting the "no phone!" message yet my phone is connected. Bluetooth status is "Connected" and I am able to change settings between the phone (iPhone 6s) and the device (FR 235). Any suggestions?
  • Do you have any Connect IQ watchfaces that display the bluetooth status? What do they show?

How are you paired to the phone? From within Garmin Connect Mobile? (the proper way), or are you also paired in the phone's setting? (can cause problems).
  • Hi,

In my lumia 640 i'm unable to get data to WU Weather Widget, and other widgets too

    Data error:-201
  • Garmin Connect Mobile for windows doesn't support any data requests for Connect IQ apps or widgets. In fact, a few days back I asked in the GCM/WP forum if they had an estimate of when it would be available, but heard noting back.

No, I don't use a watch face with the BT icon, but If I scroll to the CONTROLS screen the BT icon has a green dot next to it.

I honestly don't recall how I paired, but it would ahve been via the Garmin instructions that came with the device. Just in case though, I unpaired verified that it was not present in either the iPhone or the Connect app and then went through the pairing process in the manual (via Connect app).

I also have calendar events and a sunrise/sunset widget, that the device picks up which would be BT also, yes?

    Thanks again.
