This will provide access to data from thousands of weather stations in the "Weather Underground". Only tested in the US, but I understand it's available in many other locations.

Not just the weather in your town, but it could be your own back yard, if you have a weather station connected to WU!

To use this widget, you WILL NEED an "APIKEY" from WU. You can get one for no cost but only if if have a weather station that sends data to WU,

.
Many of the following posts are for the old version of this widget which is no longer available, so check at the end for info on the new version.

  • Would it be possible to display precipitation with a resolution of 0.01"? We don't get much rain here and it would be nice to see when we do get some.

Thanks for the app, it works great!

    Ben

  • Let me check.  It could just be a space issue.  We went 110 days with no rain here...

Ok, I made the change and it should be in the store in a few minutes.

  • Don't know when it changed, but WU now give out Centigrade in tenths

  • I've been having an odd problem recently -- the widget is showing no data with "Need Loc" in red at the bottom, even though I'm regularly using the watch for runs and everything else does have a location. I've double checked my APIkey, and WU says there have been successful uses of it every day (not using it for anything else), but the data will no longer show on my watch.

    Any ideas?

  • When you have the widget running full screen, press "menu" (long press of the middle left button or long press of lower right button on touch devices), and the first option is "get current location".  Press the upper right button, and the widget will start GPS.

Or in settings, set both the home and current station to be yours (KKSOLATH247 is one in Kansas for example)

  • very grateful for this app, especially since i have a weather station in the hills which is more reliable considering i spend most of my outdoor time within two miles of it. so it's fantastic to have it on my wrist, thanks very much.

thing is, i have another weather station. so is there anyway to load them both as homes on the widget? or is it possible to fix the "current station" to my second station? apologies if this has been covered.

  • You can have one as "home" and when you're at the other one, press menu and select  "get current location" to set current

  • One thing people have an issue with is that in order to get an API Key, you need to have a Weather Station that sends data to WU.  But once you have the key, you can get data from any WU Personal Weather Station,

With an Ecowitt GW1100 Gateway and an Ecowitt WH32 outdoor temperature and humidity sensor (combined cost about $45 US), you have the basics, but can add wind and rain sensors if you want..  I'm sure there are other low cost options, but this is the only one I've looked into personally.  The data looks good compared to the data from another Weather Station I've used for years.

  • Thanks a lot for this great app! I use it to display data from our home weather station to our Garmin watches.

One small question: on my Epix Pro Gen 2 (47mm) it shows the temperature with the ° on the glance, but then when opening the detail screen it shows it with a decimal point but without the ° sign. On some of the screenshots in the Connect IQ store I see the ° and on others not. Why is that, and can I somehow enable the ° sign?

  • It actually has to do with not all fonts on all devices have the degree symbol.
