The "Simple" Watchfaces

I have a few Simple Wathcfaces in the app store:

"Simple Digital" - time/date steps/goal using a 7-segment display like font:

"Simple Big" - time/date steps/goal with a large skinny font.

"Simple Round" and "Simple Round 2" - analog watchfaces for the new forerunner 23x and 630. Simple Round 2 allows choice of 10+ Color Schemes!

"Simple Binary" - time/date in binary, step goal percent and other status leds!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Initially, they are for the vivoactive (expect Simple Round and Simple Round 2) and the fr23x and fr 630.

These watchfaces support "user settings" to change color schemes and options.

Here's a very good thread about how to use the "User Settings" feature:

  • Hi,
I'm using the Simple Big watchface on my Vivoactive HR for almost a year now and liked it very much. Today, I've updated and seems to look different. The seconds are now in a separate row and the time itself is further up which leads to a lot of empty space. Would it be possible to have it back on the same line as the hours and minutes?
  • That was part of a general cleanup I did with Simple Big. In the past, I used the same sized font for the time on all devices, but now, I vary the size/boldness for what fits best on each device. The "extra space" comes into play in 12hr mode (it's where AM/PM is now indicated), and I'm currently testing displaying the temperature (obtained from the internet) in that space :) I'll probably release that version in the next few days.

  • Ah okay. I guess, I just have to get used to it.
Carry on the good work. :)

Simple Heart Watchface on fenix 5x

    Hi all,
I have downloaded the Simple Heart Watchface onto my fenix 5x, but under options the only thing I can do is Apply.
Should there be any other options for me to change the look, etc?
  • Like other CIQ watchfaces, you change things using App settings from your phone or Garmin Express.. There are a number of things you can change as far as colors, what you see or don't see, etc.

There's the basics of how to use app settings: https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?332843-How-to-App-Settings
  • Simple Activity (ver 0.16)

Added 1hz for HR in Simple Activity. So if you have a watch that can do 1hz, you'll see a MUCH more current HR on the watch face!

But like Simple Heart, on the F5x (due to HW differences) you'll still only see the HR change every 1-2 minutes.

    Thanks

THankyou for your assistance Jim, much appreciated :)
  • The "Simples" and Weather data

I'm about to start updating the Simples to show weather info, and wanted to just post a general guide.

I'll be using DarkSky, and to access it you need your own "API key". Weather is only available on the following watches: va-hr, fr 735, Fenix 5/5x/fs/Chronos, fr 935

Here's the steps to set it up:

    1) go to the web https://darksky.net/dev/

    2) create your own account and you'll see a 32 character key

You then set the key using App settings with your phone or with Garmin Express. https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?332843-How-to-App-Settings

With app settings, you can also set how often the weather data gets updated. (the default is every 15 minutes)

When you first install, you may not have a BT connection to your phone, so you may not see data for 15 minutes. If you see "GPS" on the screen, it's because it doesn't know your location. On most watches (even the f5x with 4.12 or greater firmware!), just start up a GPS activity, wait for a fix, and then discard it. The watchface will grab your location from that. If you see "BT" it means didn't have a connection to your phone last time it tried to get data For other errors, it just means that something went wrong when requesting/receiving data, that will likely be fine the next time the data is requested.
  • Version 0.24 Simple Big - "Weather or not!"

Simple Big in the app store has been update to display the current temperature! See post 89 in this thread for specifics!

Note: temperature is not available on all watches, and to get the temperature, you need your own API key from darksky.net.
  • The first new Simple in some time. Simple Darksky! A watchface that focuses on weather data.
