The "Simple" Watchfaces

I have a few Simple Wathcfaces in the app store:

"Simple Digital" - time/date steps/goal using a 7-segment display like font:

"Simple Round" and "Simple Round 2" - analog watchfaces for the new forerunner 23x and 630. Simple Round 2 allows choice of 10+ Color Schemes!

"Simple Binary" - time/date in binary, step goal percent and other status leds!

Initially, they are for the vivoactive (expect Simple Round and Simple Round 2) and the fr23x and fr 630.

These watchfaces support "user settings" to change color schemes and options.

    Just a note -
    Many (but not all) of the "Simple" watchfaces will be getting a bit of a face lift. Been working on adding "Seconds all the time" on the watches that allow that (the f5x/f5/f5s and fr 935), and to simply things, moved things a bit so the layouts on other watches are similar and have changed.

    Look for updates with "seconds all the time" (and the other cosmetic changes) in the next few weeks! (once I can start updating, I'll space them out a bit so all aren't changing at one time)

    Hoping for the release of the 2.3.1 SDK any day now (this week maybe?) so I can publish updates to many of the "Simples", with "seconds all the time" (on devices that support it) and sunrise/sunset! Stay tuned!

    1hz "Simples" in the store!

    The 2.3.1 CIQ SDK was released today so I can start to publish watchfaces that display seconds all the time. This feature is only available on the Fenix5, 5x, fs, Qantrix5, and forerunner 935.


    There's been a few changes that apply to all watches, like sunrise/sunset, and some screen layout difference to not only allow for 1hz, but just for similar layouts between different watches, and in the case of Simple Big, for a better sized time font on all devices.

    Also, the Approach S60 is supported!

    So far, the following are in the app store:

    • Simple Binary
    • Simple Watch



    More coming in the next few days! (a number of screen shots need to be re-done! :) )

    Not 1hz (seconds all the time) per the sim. Like the va-hr with the latest firmware, it can do background processes, but not 1hz. (I've verified that on a va-hr) From what I understand this feature requires more advanced display hardware than is on the 735 and va-hr.

    From the 2.3.1 announcement:

    Always Active Watch Faces allow Connect IQ custom watch faces to continuously update every second while maintaining industry leading battery life.This feature is available on fēnix 5/S/X and the Forerunner 935.

    seems you're right, missed that announcement, not much of a watch-face guy myself so didn't look to closely at the 1hz implementation details... :)

    It was something that came out when "always active" watches were announced. (right at the start of the Summit). In addition to being limited to certain devices, when a watch face is doing the "1hz" code with onPartialUpdate(), it can use at most an average of 30ms for each call over a minute, and if that's exceeded, 1hz gets turned off (it's all about the battery!) It can be a bit tricky to do much in 30ms! :)

    The following WF's have been added to the ones that do 1hz on the devices that support it and also added Approach S60 where it seemed to fit.

    • Simple Activity
    • Simple Digital2



    I have a couple more to publish, but right now, looking for a way around the bug for Heartrate on the 735 in the latest firmware. It's something that's hitting many watchfaces and a number of developers. I'm holding off on updating "Simple Heart" due to that.

    Simple Heart 0.18a - something a bit unique for the f5/5s and 935

    With a fenix5, Fenix 5s or 935, you'll see the HR update much more often. It uses the 1hz logic, but when running a watch face, it's not really "real time" (I see it change every few second though!)

    The F5x HW is a bit different, so it won't do the same there, however.

    For 735 users, I'm still waiting for a fix to the firm ware by Garmin there. Nothing I can really do, except wait.. :(
