It looks like WatchOut! renders Parkrun barcodes (and many other barcodes) with just a single pixel resolution per vertical line, which isn't adequate for many laser-based scanners - such as those used by Parkrun.

I've written a specific Parkrun widget that maximises the size of the barcode for the specifc watch model display:
    https://twitter.com/mrjeffcoat/status/665166766058938369
The widget computes everything on the watch, so no need for connecting to external services.

I'll be submitting it to the ConnectIQ store after some field testing. My local Parkrun is Reading, so perhaps I'll pop down an be a Parkrun tourist at Basingstoke later this month!

What model of watch do you have?
Would you like to beta test?

    Dear mrjeffcoat,
WatchOut! works perfectly with parkrun code, please do not pick a specific old message with the only intent to advertise your widget.

    Thanks
    Stefano

I didn't mean to tread on your toes. What you've built is impressive, and you're obviously thoroughly involved with the community, and responsive to your users.
  • I can't get this to work at all with my Forerunner 235.

Installed the app, registered on the website (and followed the activation link in the email) entered my watch serial number both on the app and on my account profile on the web, and I've added a few cards. But whenever I open the app on my 235 it says I have no cards registered no matter how many times I try to re-sync it. :(

    Hi,
    Thanks for your message!

When you get that message but you have registered cards on the website it means there is not match between the watch serial number you entered on the website and the one inserted on the watch.

Please check them both and let me know.

    Hi boyced,
A341343 is the right Card Payload.

In general, if insecure, just scan your card with your smartphone and insert what your scanner displays.

By the way and Android App is coming to help and letting add all the cards quickly ;)

    Order of cards upside down.

Is it just me or is it funny that the barcodes in the app seem to be listed backwards? When I open the app the first barcode that shows is GNC and the dot is on the left of the blue line on the bottom. Intuitively pushing the down arrow to get to the next code (Xsport) takes me instead to the app menu. Scrolling to back gets me back to GNC and I have to remember to push the UP button which moves me to the next card and moves the dot to the right on the bar. Seems to me intuitively the app should start the list alphabetically A at the TOP and scroll Down for the next.

    I'm using a 235.

Am I doing something wrong or do I have a bug? Or is this something you can fix?

Thanks so much! Other than this the app is very nice to have.

I just keep finding it weird to go against the natural assumption that lists start at the top and move downward.

    Dear EYENSTEIN,
The cards are showed on the watch with the order you inserted them on the Web.
If you push UP you go ahead toward the Menu (at the end of the scroll line).
    DOWN to come back.

Next Web release will introduce a manual sorting of your cards (you will be able to move the most frequent cards at the beginning).
