Hi

App looks great. Really useful. I have registered and added two store cards (Sainsbury and Tesco) on your web site. When i start Ap I can see one storecard with barcode (Sainsbury) but I cannot work out how to get the other! Tried different button presses but just not guessed right.

Would it be possible to add Waitrose, Morrisons, Boots and Bookers store cards. Cut my plastic load right down!

Thanks

Hi DaveL2112,
Thanks for your message!

Could you please write me an email to [email protected] with the email you have used to register?

I will look into the system to investigate.

I will be more then happy to add the cards above, could you send me an image of them? I need to see the kind of codec they use.

Thanks a lot!

Up arrow seems to work on my 920 and then Down
• Very promising app. I installed it onto my 920XT and added my parkrun barcode and a Starbucks card.

Can I make a few points/questions.
1. "Parkrun" should all be in lower case, i.e. parkrun
2. Ask a stupid question but do these barcodes actually scan and have had people had experience of actually using them instead of their actual cards?
3. parkrun, in particular, do not generally accept barcodes on mobile phones as it seems their scanners aren't "powerful" enough to work. As such I would not be confident that my 920 would far any better.
4. I generally use the Starbucks app to make purchases in their stores - mainly UK as that is where am from. The Starbucks barcode looks very small. I might pop into a store at lunchtime and see if it works.
5. Any reason why you don't also put the card number on the screen with the barcode? Just wondering if would help to give reassurance to the user and the "store" that it is actually your barcode.
• Any plans to bring this to Vivoactive?

Hi TIMGROSE,
thanks for your interesting message!
Let's see point by point:

1. I agree, just updated. After a sync you will see it on your smartwatch.
2. I started WatchOut! for my personal use, I am proud to use it every day :) At the moment I have near 500 registered users with an average of 2 cards (the max is 8, not me :) I think some of them tried.
3. I don't know yet, I talked with a person on parkrun Denmark Facebook Group. He told me they use this model of scanner http://www.opticon.com/OPN-2001.aspx. It's a laser diode technology not the best to scan digital screen actually. But in my experience on store some laser devices work well after all. This model should be tried I guess. I don't know at all about all other countries.
I registered my self to give a try as soon as I can.
4. Please test it and give me feedback. Where I live there are no Starbucks. Unfortunately the Starbucks code has 135 "pixels" of information I couldn't double the size in a screen of 218.
I always test each kind of code on a real watch and also on the emulator: I scan it with my mobile and a barcode reader. So I can say that with an image scanner it works.
5.At the beginning I was thinking it was mandatory a big barcode image. So I had to use all the available space. But it is not true. The real problem is that some code in "number format" are really long and again I don't have a lot of space.
But this is a good point and I will do some test with small fonts. Thanks

Hi GSparky,
Thanks for your message! I receice a lot of requests for vivoactive model. Well WatchOut! is almost ready for vivoactive model but we all have to wait Garmin ConnectIQ SDK version 1.2 in order to have an input for the watch. (technically the TextPicker object doesn't work on vivoactive, we need a Garmin upgrade).

When will ConnectIQ SDK version 1.2 be available? I don't know, it would be great if Garmin could share this info.
• parkrun scanners will not scan watch face.

I tried this today. I am part of the team at basingstoke parkrun and took a scanner to one side before the run and tried multiple times and as half expected, the parkrun handheld scanners are not powerful enough for this to work.

To be honest, it may be best to remove parkrun from the list to avoid getting peoples hopes up and then people getting cross each week when they are told it does not work. Especially if they do not bring a paper barcode thinking the watch will be fine.

Hi Gasteropod,
Thanks for your test and feedback! Could you please tell me more about the scanner model? Do you know if all parkrun team all over the world use this kind of model (maybe because of company owner of the brand choice)? Thanks a lot indeed.
• It is indeed the Opticon 2001 as mentioned above and is used for all parkruns as far as I am aware. The parkrun wiki link for the scanner is here:

http://wiki.parkrun.info/index.php/Opticon_2001

You will notice it is the only scanner referenced (see also http://wiki.parkrun.info/index.php/List_of_Barcode_Scanners). Different events have different timers, but I am pretty sure all events use the same scanner.
