I have recently released my first Connect IQ app, a Watch Face called "Concise". You can find it here... https://apps.garmin.com/en-US/apps/a6a328fe-a489-47db-ad35-5f15e75c9cae

Detail about "Concise" Watch Face are as follows...
Concise shows all the information you need regarding Watch Status, Time & Date and your days Steps data on one clearly laid out, simple watch face.
Concise supports both Metric and Imperial units and 12 and 24 hour clocks.
Concise displays the following...
- Vibrate Mode telltale - Informs you if you have enabled Vibrate on your watch.
- Connected via Bluetooth telltale - Informs you in you have a BTLE device connected.
- Sleep Mode telltale - Informs your watch is in Sleep Mode.
- Day of Week, Month and Date.
- Battery status both as a colour battery graphic and as a numeric percentage.
- Time in large, easy to read numbers. 12 hour clock mode additionally displays AM/PM indicators.
- Steps Bar which shows your progress towards todays step goal as a percentage in the form of an orange bar graph. Overlayed on top of the Steps Bar numerically is your current step count and goal for today, your process towards todays step goal as a percentage and the distance you have moved today.
- Move Bar replaces the Steps Bar when you have been inactive for at least 1 hour. The Move Bar replicates the standard move bar from the Activity Tracking screen onto your watch face as well as overlaying numerically your current step count and goal for today.

Concise Watch Face has been developed to meet my needs on a Garmin Vivoactive. Please let me know any bugs or suggestion in this thread.

Thanks!

    --- Future Planned Updates ---

    -------------------------------------------

Thanks to all those who have left feedback. Here is a list of suggestions/requests and whether they are planned to be implemented in future updates...
    - Alarm telltale to inform you if an alarm is set. Requires change by Garmin to allow feature. [Status: Planned, awaiting Garmin].
    - British date format (eg 27 Jul instead of Jul 27). Will allow user choice when Garmin enables user settings for watch faces. [Status: Planned, awaiting Garmin].
    - Display Kcal. Wasn't implemented as could not do without cluttering interfaces. Will allow user choice of either process towards todays step goal as a percentage or Kcal when Garmin enables user settings for watch faces. [Status: Planned, awaiting Garmin].
    - GPS telltale. Currently GPS is disabled by system when displaying watch faces to save battery. As such there is no advantage in this telltale. Also feature is not supported by Garmin for this reason. [Status: Not Planned]
    - Add Seconds. [Status: Planned]
    - Tones telltale to inform you if you have audible alert tones turned on. [Status: Complete - v1.01]
    - Support Garmin Epix watch. [Status: Complete - v1.01]

    problem with this wathcface

First, I want to thank you. I love this watchface very much. As you name it, "concise", just what one need.
I have a problem with "Concise". As you can see in the attachment image, the upper date has been cut.

Any way to solve this problem?

Thanks for your kind words. I notice that it is not only the date that is sitting too high on your screen but all text. I have not seen this on my watch or the simulator. Can you please let me know what version software, Connect IQ etc your watch is running? You can find this under "Setting" then "About"?

Concise was written with Connect IQ SDK version 1.1.3. I cannot find any reference to font alignment specifically but it does mention general bug fixes. As such, the first thing I suggest is you try updating to the latest software (V3.10 and Connect IQ v1.1.3). This will then match what I have been using. Please let me know how this goes.
  • Concise it is!

Greatly appreciate this watch face. I downloaded this mainly as it looked simpler (less cluttered) than 'Big Time', and it is.

    Feedback:

    1. The contrast on the brown is ok but not fabulous on the Vivoactive. Maybe more orange or yellow would increase the contrast?
    2. Seconds would be great (even if as per Big Time)
    3. I'd double the height of the status strip as it is just readable in fair conditions. Reducing the height of the time by that amount would still make it very readable.

Anything else may be a bonus (alarm icon nice) but I agree that keeping it concise is a nice goal.

    Thanks!
  • 920xt maybe?

Any chance you will port this to the 920xt?

    Thanks for your feedback....
    1. Garmin only have a handful of colours and the one I have chosen is actually called Orange. Unfortunately there is nothing brighter. I understand the reason for this is the screen is designed for low power usage and good outdoor readability so has no backlight instead relying of reflection of ambient light. As such, the screen contrast and colours will look best in bright light.
    2. This is something I will look to add to a future update.
    3. I agree there is plenty of height - there is just not plenty of width. If I used the next font size up then all three piece of information would not fit along the status bar at the bottom. In fact, if you are a highly active person, even Steps / Goal and Distance Walked would not fit. See here...

I have worked on this but found that on the simulator (I own a VA and not a 920XT) it showed all my fonts sit too high on the screen and thus are cut off. I have had this issue reported on 1 VA as well which from what I have been able to tell was due to it running older software. As, such until there is an update to the 920XT I do not want to release this face for it in order to avoid complaints and poor reviews.

I am happy to send you a test build for you to try (all you need to do is copy the file into a specific directory on your 920XT using a PC) and I'll ask for your feedback and a photo on it on the screen. If you are interested, please PM me your email address.
