Did anyone find a way to update a CIQ complication in faceIt?

There is a two year old bug about this:

Face it watch faces does not update data from ConnectIQ compliactions

Hard to believe this wasn't fixed for two years, and there was no interest in it. Is there some trick to get faceIt to display a custom complication? Sending some unit, or icon, or specific short or long label?

Nothing can be done in the CIQ publisher (as long as it's publishing from a CIQ background service). Faceit is simply not handling updates correctly. My publishers all work fine with CIQ watch faces…

Well, thank you for confirming, that the problem is not skill issue on my side in this scenario!

I publish from foreground, without any background process, same result, CIQ watch faces work, but faceit doesn't.

The resources xml still requires me to add

<faceIt defaultText="...

even though it never (as far as I know) worked. And now I have to assume, it is never going to be fixed. It is kind of bizarre.

No, you need to have a background service for a watch face to update, unless you want to run the publisher by hand to get the WF to update on it's own. See RE: Sample of CIQ Complication Publisher and Consumer of those Complications

With my CIQ watchfaces, they update when they should (for well over 2 years now...)

Yes, "run the publisher by hand" kind of describes my current use case.

I don't need a background process, it never changes in the background, but only by user input (after onPress on watchface). It already works as intended, with watchfaces that support it.

I plan to publish my app, I guess I have to list some watchfaces that support it, like this app does in the description:
