Which old devices are not supported any more by Connect IQ?

From this thread on facebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/garminforum/posts/2752210798472170/ it looks like epix (gen 1) is not really supported any more by CIQ. We can waste our time supporting it, are able to build for it, test it in the simulator, but what's the point if no user can use it because Connect IQ phone apps no longer support the watch. Is it still supported from Garmin Express?

Brandon.ConnectIQ Can you please clarify the issue? Which devices are no longer supported? Can Garmin indicate it somehow and announce the change so we don't waste our time supporting them?

(Edge 1000 was released in 2014, and now it looks like it's been dropped from the Connect IQ store app).

Even if it's not available in the connect iq app, there's still use for being able to sideload it.

But you're right the developers should be aware that they can discontinue development on no longer supported devices.

Maybe a middle way can be to Mark these incompatible devices in the SDK manager inside a seperate group (so eg move the Epix from Api Level 1.2 to the new group "Unsupported devices by the Connect IQ app" )

I still dislike the removal of the download button from the webbased store. :(

Possible workaround:

- register an account on the chinese garmin site connect.garmin.cn

- connect the epix 1 device to this new account

- go to apps.garmin.cn ( https://apps.garmin.cn/en-US/devices/epix/apps ) and press the download button

- synchronize with garmin express

Good idea! So if Garmin only removed the button but the backend is still there (and will remain...) then we could either add a button or just create some python script that gets the app_id as a parameter and triggers it's latest version to be installed, and then we might even be able to continue from Connect IQ, without Garmin Express.

I can't even create an account without a Chinese phone number...

li2niu is there any chance you can help? Do I remember correctly that you have an account in the Chinese website? Can you open any app's url in the browser and open the Inspector go to the Network tab and check where it goes when you click the Download button?

I saw something within the last few weeks where China now requires a land based phone number for a .cn login

So maybe a fairly new requirement, and one that won't change.

Before the CIQ mobile app, all ciq app setting on the phone were done by way off GCM. Last time I checked (maybe a few years) not all devices were moved to the CIQ and you still used GCM. It could be with the changes to the web based app store, devices that were never moved to the CIQ app were simply dropped. It seems those thar are gone are CIQ 1 or in the case of the Edge 1000, CIQ2 (it is over a decade old)

Ok, but the question is if you can see in the Inspector what http request is being executed when you click the Download button (after you click on any of the apps you see on the screen)?

I dont have an epix watch so that is the outcome.
