models that support multiple connect IQ app simultaneously

would someone from the developer team Please let me know what watches support four connect IQ data fields simultaneously during an activity. It's very hard to find reliable information and I'm also trying to figure out which watch already has all of the data fields programmed that I'm looking for so comprehensive list would be very appreciated.

Garmin should supply this information with every watch on their website, I have been trying a couple of hours now to find information and there is simply nothing out there. It's only in forums and maybe some reviews but nothing official.

  • This is a problem with the data fields, not the quantity.  The developers of the fields aren't properly handling the exceptions being thrown.  They wouldn't be able to add the data to the activity.fit file, but they would still be able to display the data on the fields.

Yes, there could be more info provided to you as to what's going wrong, but this isn't a problem with the watch but rather the specific CIQ fields aren't written properly.  You'd run into the same sort of problem if you had multiple CIQ data fields trying to connect to the same sensor as there can only be one open channel to any given sensor.

As Jim says, there should be a Garmin\Apps\Logs\ciq_log file.

Is it actually preventing you from adding a third field, or just not displaying the field properly?

  • just wanted to comment my 2cents to this thread it's a shame the entire Fenix 7 series has a full 256mb of memory which is max for Garmin watches and not that common (and more than most Fenix8 models

and yet it's still limited to 2x CIQ datafields

when I read the Fenix8 teardown, he constantly comments that it's many of the same chips as the Fenix7 so it's not a hardware limitation

FenixE seems almost a Fenix7 with just AMOLED

and they are still releasing beta firmware for the Fenix7, so if Garmin really wanted they could give it 4x CIQ support like the Fenix8

but obviously not holding my breath

in too many ways I've found the Fenix7 a step backwards from the Fenix6, I suspect different core developers

  • It's not up to the CIA developers! There's not much we can do. The only thing, maybe, is to explain things in the app description. Most users don't read it, and if "your" app starts with a crash, then the chance that the user understands they can disable recording to fit is not high. You could probably do the other way: don't record anything by default and let the user opt-in for recording.
