models that support multiple connect IQ app simultaneously

would someone from the developer team Please let me know what watches support four connect IQ data fields simultaneously during an activity. It's very hard to find reliable information and I'm also trying to figure out which watch already has all of the data fields programmed that I'm looking for so comprehensive list would be very appreciated.

Garmin should supply this information with every watch on their website, I have been trying a couple of hours now to find information and there is simply nothing out there. It's only in forums and maybe some reviews but nothing official.

I would be very happy about an answer

Thank you

thank you

  • has there been a teardown of the 570 vs 970 yet to expose the cpu? maybe the fcc docs?

wondering if it's identical and just marketing throttle

when you say all F8 you likely mean including the FenixE Tactix8 and Enduro3 assuming

the FenixE would then be the lowest cost device that runs 4x but it's only available in black which is a showstopper for me (white/whitestone please Garmin)

also weight, I swore my next Garmin if any would be plastic case, no more heavy fenix with metal case blocking GPS

  • when you say all F8 you likely mean including the FenixE Tactix8 and Enduro3 assuming

    Exactly.  And the Pro's.

  • hello it’s always the same answer, but in fact it’s not true. I have the Enduro 3 and yes it’s possible to get for CIQ Fields, but not all of them. By that I mean for example when I have the core body temperature sensor it takes up more than one slot even the watch tells me I can get three more as soon as I add one more I cannot add anything else. As soon as I add more fields there will be only smilies showing up there’s no data coming to the the watch.

the new stryde data field also takes more than one slot so it’s kind of redundant you have four fields but you cannot use it. I like my Enduro but I was super frustrated with this and also angry because it’s not as straightforward as it should be. Anyway there is no better way of getting a lot of sensors on a watch than Fenix or Enduro. But I have to say a lot of people posting here don’t know what They are talking about and all this posting is misleading so please guys if you didn’t try it don’t post

  • What do you mean takes more than one "slot"?  I've never had any issues with adding the full 4 individual CIQ fields, as well as still being able to add each of those fields to more than one page.

There are some limitations but that will be a bit of design combined with the fault of the fields.  If you try to add two CIQ fields that use the same Developer Field indexes - custom data added to the activity.fit files - that will cause problems.  Ultimately that's a fault of the fields as they can have exception handling code.

I've also noticed if you tried to configure the pages from the Menu -> Settings -> Activities, there are problems, but if you configure the data pages from the Activity itself - Start Page, scroll down to Activity Settings - it all works just fine.

So please explain what you mean by "slot" and "Smilies" (I assume you are referring to the iQ symbol.

  • OK I will explain,

    OK I will explain,

I’ve several sensors that I use with my Garmin watch.

    Stryd, Core, Train.Red and Vo2Master.

even my Enduro 3 will not let me use more than two of these at the same time.

the watch says they’re only two slots of four used but as soon as I add another connect IQ data field the data won’t show up and it’s also not recorded to the fit file.

Since Garmin is not transparent about this I have to only guess that this data fields Use more memory than smaller data fields where you can actually use for at the same time.

I encourage everybody to try this before buying a watch for This kind of money and in the end it’s not doing anything more than a forerunner 245 did.

Don’t get me wrong the Enduro is a beast, but if You are only interested by the data it’s actually not doing anything new.

  • There's not just a limit on the number of CIQ data fields, but there is also a limit on the total number of fitContrib/user Data points.  That seems to be 16 in all cases. So is you have 2 data field that write a combined 16, and try to add a 3rd that only writes 1, you'll have an issue. There's also a limit on the total length of what's written by fitcontrib.

can you set more that 2 dfs, if they are all very simple and don't save any fitcontrib data?

  • So it's not a limit on the number of data fields, but the limit on how much fitcontrib data that can be written that's impacting you.  Two different things.

  • who cares….

    it does not work

And since there is no log or anything you guys can discuss endless about it.

But the fact is 4 ciq fields are only possible with some ciq and not possible with the ones I mentioned and there is no way to adjust.

    So kind of sucks

  • Have you checked the ciq_log files on the watch?

There was one DF that was using most of the 16 fitcontrib spots, and the was it was handled by users was to contact the developer and ask for a slimmed down version.  Dome devs have also added a configuration option as to hoe muvh fitvomtrib data they would try to write.  Try contacts the devs for your DFS and ask for their help.
