Data Field Replaced by Timer on Forerunner 935 and Edge 830

We have developed our Connect IQ data field (Q-LAC).
A customer is experiencing an issue on Forerunner 935 + Edge 830 (connected to the same IQ account):

when the data field is added to an activity screen, instead of showing our field, the watch automatically replaces it with the built-in Timer/Stopwatch field.

Steps already tested, without success:

  • Performed a full reset of the watch.

  • Uninstalled and reinstalled the data field several times.

  • Added the data field in a completely new activity profile.

  • Verified the Connect IQ limitation of max 2 data fields per activity (only one CIQ field is used during testing).

Is this a known bug or firmware limitation? Are there any recommended workarounds or fixes?

  • This indicates your app crashed.  The crash logs are in app/logs/ciq_log.*

  • This is a known (by some developers and users, not sure if the relevant people at Garmin know and I'm pretty sure they don't care) issue for a long time. I reported it on fr245, fenix6, fr965 multiple times in the past 4 years. My greatest "success" was that one time it seemed like finally the Nth customer service agent saw the problem (not necessarily reproduced, but acknowledged it is annoying if it happens, or in other words considers it being a bug)

    They also told me I'm the 1st one to report this (every time I reported...) and that if I know about other users I should tell them to report.
