Device Update Needed

Hey Everyone,

I wanted to take a moment to let you know that we have discovered an issue where the app store is telling users to update their device firmware even though they are running the current version. This means that they are unable to download until the store thinks that they have the correct version. We do have a ticket open to address the issue and the fix should be implemented soon, but we wanted to let you know as we know that you field many emails and posts from users as well. Thanks for your patience and for continuing to grow our community!

  • Your timing is wonderful .. you prevented me from doing a release tomorrow that would likely have been not a good thing.

Thanks for letting us know :)
  • Thanks Coleman! The "Contact Developer" messages about this have slowed down a bit, but hopefully I'll be able to do away with my "here's how to get the app store in sync" copy and past response soon!
  • Coleman ..

Can someone from Garmin please let us know when this situation is resolved ? I have not experienced this problem myself though .. so I don't know how
widespread of an issue it is.

    Thanks
  • I think i a victim of the above bug. I am unable to download/install apps from connect IQ store even though my vivoactive has software version 4.20, which according to garmin express is most up-to-date.
Is there any temporary/manual workaround to this issue?
When likely is this going to get fixed.
    Thanks
  • Most users have reported success by trying some of these:

    • Reboot your watch by switching it off completely, and then back on.
    • Plug into your computer with Garmin Express, let it sync, and unplug it.
    • Unpair your watch from your phone and pair it again

You don’t need to try it in this specific order. The idea is that any one of these might solve the issue for you.
  • I'm been suggesting the same things are Hemot when I've been contacted by users, and those I hear back from, one of these things does resolve the issue.

These have been the steps that have seen the best results, but there is no sure fire work around at the moment. The good news is that we don't have issues stemming from anything going on with Connect IQ, the vm, or the SDK. Unfortunately this is a mix of some device and Garmin Connect Mobile issues. This is why we tend to see success when using Express. Sadly, I don't have any good timelines because it's a little out of our hands. However, we too have noticed a drop off in traffic as device teams address it. We just wanted to make sure that you all as developers are aware. Thanks again for your patience!

  • Edge 1000 & moxy

    Hi,

This error message is still an issue. I cannot download the latest moxy app on my edge 1000, as it says I don't have the latest firmware, but I'm running 10.0.

Updated garmin express, and reboot the edge, logged in an out of connect, to no avail.

    Any ETA on the fix?

    Thanks
    Chris
  • I'm not sure if this is related, but I've been getting errors in Express all day today.

It shows that a Map Update is ready to install on my Edge 1000, but when I try to install it, I get a "There was an error syncing to Garmin Connect" message in a red box at the top of the Express window.

When I click on Manage Apps, I get a white pop up window with a "Server Error We are having trouble communicating with our servers" message.

I can get on the App Store and on Garmin Connect just fine. It worked yesterday. I'm on version 4.1.28.0 of Express.

I've restarted Express and reconnected it to my Garmin Connect Account.

I connected my 735 this evening and that went into Manage Apps just fine. I went back to the Edge 1000 and got the same Server Error. So then I disconnected the Edge 1000 and then restarted it. Now both errors I listed above stopped occurring. I had disconnected and reconnected many times today but I don't know when I didn't think to restart the device itself for a Server Error.
